PSA Street Captains?

Um, what? A lot of us around here were in the airline business on the day that a bunch of jihadis rammed airliners into buildings.
In this thread? Trip? Wheelsup? You?

Only I guy know of that this applies to is Polar. Even then. He still doesn't know our background or what the future holds for FFD carriers.

The thing I find a little funny is the 767 is even more forgiving than the CRJ. So it seems we put our weaker pilots in the most unforgiving planes.

Evidenced by @ATN_Pilot wanting to go out and buy (or maybe you already did) his own piston. Talk about a weak pilot in an unforgiving plane. Ya know Todd, there's no autopilot. (Although maybe you'll get one with an autopilot). ;)

Mine has an autopilot. With altitude hold. It's a bitch having to adjust my own throttle, though. :D

Negative. I was a 2002 hire at Pinnacle, but flying 1900s on 9/11.
So at most a year of a delay along with a massively quick upgrade (even with your wait for age 23) as your prize when NWA gave up scope. I admit it was likely a good scare.

Perspective is an interesting thing as your career had still gone a lot smoother than mine and many others that may be in this position. I have been delayed at least 3 years due to Age 65 + recession. Notice how I said I have averaged less than $25k/year as a "professional" pilot for 7 years? Heck I still have to live with my sister since I will be dumping a stupid amount of money on career fairs and everything that comes with them.

There are no guarantees in aviation and I am tired of jumping around unless it is actually forward movement rather than a promise.

You've expressed your pay gripes about your personal situation for months over several threads including your reasoning about the risks of going to PSA or TSA etc. Had you made a move then you would be in upgrade class now. Here we are months later, no change, same gripes.

Instead of whining about living with your sister make a calculated move to improve your situation, especially with the ABUNDANCE of opportunity available in the regional game right now.

You know, I used to be like this too. Left my regional as a FO to go to a major and then tell those at the regional that they should go here, do this, do that, apply there. It took me almost 3 years to learn, but I finally realized, it just isn't my damn business to tell other grown men what they should or shouldn't do in terms of working at an airline and where they should go. They are all grown ups, who can and will make grown up choices, and it is not my business to judge them or their personal family situation. Right now you're in the "holy #@$% I'm at Delta!" phase. Give it a few years and IMO you'll be eating the same slice of humble pie that I took.

I'm at a LCC, the happiest I could ever be, thoroughly enjoying my career, and I wish nothing but the best for ALL regional pilots (yes, even Endeavor) and hope that each and every single one of them obtain their personal career goals - and wish them and their families the best.

Go home you're drunk

you'd be a captain now if you had come to compass

I was an ATR captain. I was pulled off my line for CRM training that day. I was just pulling into my daughter's day care when the first airplane hit. My crew was diverted to Columbua,SC and was stuck there for several days.
Are ATN_Pilot and I really that old??

@Trip7....This. It's almost like you're trying to micro-manage other people's careers. There's difference between offering professional advice and being a backseat driver. There's many different ways to skin a cat. There is no set blue print to get from point A to point B. People have different situations and philosophies on how to do it. Just because it's not done your way, it doesn't mean it's the wrong way.

Just for the record, let's say you never got hired at Southern Jets International. I'm just curious, would you have made a lateral move from ExpressJet? If so, when? I guess it's easier to say all this now that several pieces to the puzzle have unfolded.

I'm 3yrs at XJT (L-ASA) and would join PSA tomorrow if they hire true street CA's. But I can't stomach the 300hrs as FO year 1 pay with the "possibility" of upgrade.

Don't feel bad in spite of what people here write. At the same time keep your options open. I'm a long time L-ASA pilot and like it here. On the flip side that is why it sucks for you- I'm comfortable, well paid, treated well and not looking to move on. I've actually had FOs tell me to my face that I am the problem with our airline. I won't move on and I'm occupying their seat.
Do what is best for you. You don't owe me or anyone else here a thing. Do what is best for you, not me.
On the other hand it IS easy flying with 6-8 year FOs who anticipate what needs to be done.
So forget what I said. Stay here. Everyplace else sucks.

For God's sake, wherever you decide to go, or attempt to go, when you talk to a recruiter do your freaking homework. I've been helping this one guy, and he met a recruiter who COULD have scheduled his interview immediately. When he was asked a very obvious and common question about the company, he didn't know the answer. I had dinner with the recruiter last night, and he won't get a fast track to an interview now, because (to quote him) "You have to be hungry and want it, and if you want it bad enough, you will know everything about the company."

I'm pretty disgruntled with the guy, given the number of times he has called me to request assistance and a letter, etc. He dropped my name to the recruiter, then looked unprepared. The recruiter said to me, "What's up with your guy? Do you really recommend him as unprepared as he is?"

Disgruntled is generous, now that I think about it.
