PSA hiring, again.

Oh my, I wont send it in, I will look for other opportunities. I have a bad feeling!
a regional is a regional. they all suck. some pay more than others, some have better training than others. PSA is unquestionably at the bottom of both those lists. However, if it gets you in the door somewhere better, then why not give it a go.

What happened to ExpressJet?

Though I was in at Expressjet and then got the TBNT call, guess there was others who were better

So, out of curiosity, what would you say are the top three regionals? Top five if it's too difficult to narrow down that low?

Depends on what is important to you. I would say without a doubt SkyWest would be number one. Then there are quite a few that are in the middle of the pack. Envoy, ExpressJet, Compass. They all have their pros and cons. The single best way to find out if its right for you is to talk to current and former dispatchers. They will tell you the real story. The number one recruiting tool any company can have is its current and former employees, albeit it can work for and against them. You're not going to make any kind of money working at a regional, so whats really important is making sure you get the training, guidance, and mentorship to make sure you are doing things the right/legal way. This will no doubt pay off when its time to interview at a major. I know a lot of people preach any experience is good experience. But if you aren't trained properly and don't have any clue what you are doing, then its really of no help.

If you have a ton of other offers talk to them and see what fits you best but if you dont and want to be a dispatcher then why not start working at a regional. Is PSA the best one...NO. Do you get more experience here than you do not dispatching for a living...YES. Think long term. Do you think the premium regionals(whatever that means to you) and later the Majors would rather you had worked at PSA for a year or 2 or worked and Mcdonalds holding out for the one you want.

Aside from all of this, also look at the fleet. If they aren't flying a 70+ jet, the clock is ticking. Even if the goal is to end up at a major, might as well try to get on with a regional that gives you at least 3-5 years in the bag. There are regionals (and divisions of certain regionals) flying 50 seaters exclusively, and those might not buy that kind of time.

All i have to say, is if you new to the dispatch world PSA isn't all that bad from what all these BOZO's say it is. Yes there are things i don't like about it but, it's always that way when you have a job. It's a place to get your foot in the door gain some experience learning from you peers. since I've been, I've been promoted and i learn more about the airline operations. So, if your new and want to get your foot in the door with an airline and reap all the airline benefits PSA isn't a bad place to start, and this is coming from someone who has previously worked at another regional. if you take anything from this post , Just remember these bozo's who dog on PSA do not work here anymore and their opinion should not matter to you if your are just starting out.

Those Bozos don't work there anymore because they were smart and got out. Those that are still there are lifers or are too busy on their knees 'harking' to see reality. Spare everyone the fluff piece. The place sucks and has the lowest pay and a non existent training program. There's no reason to work there.

well, if you want to be closed minded and ruin it for the new people fine i cant stop you. I'm not "harking" anyone just saying its not a bad place to start. that all period.

Don't let them ruin things. Your opinion and experience are valued. There is no one option that works for everyone. It is entirely possible that personalities just didn't mesh.

there is always more than one way to look at things

my current shop conditions can be really • , but for the select few from the management Kliq and their drinking buddies - they have a sweet gig

so it will depends on who you ask

i am AKA Dispatcher Obvious

Which might come sooner than you think if you hang out there too long. That's for true for sure. And ya know what else, AVgirl, they shouldnt be such haters cuzz unlesst you never been there, then you have no idea what you are talking about. And that's for true. yessir.

Wow, that had to take a long time to type. :D I get that people have had bad experiences, but change is possible, some might even say change is a requirement. I think those saying PSA is horrible would even agree with that!

Nothing is ruined. There's plenty of other reputable regionals to work for that aren't run and managed by complete idiots.

The only thing your posts sound like is desperation. Desperation to staff those dispatch desks. As people hear the truth about that place, they don't show. Ask any of the 13+ people who have bailed within the past year, all the stories are consistent.

With that said, this thread should probably be closed.

SWAP.
