PSA hiring, again.

So as a total newbie who never dispatched, PSA would be more detrimental to my career than beneficial? Or are you saying that starting at PSA would basically be a way to get to a better regional?

Keep in mind most of the people who posted in this thread before you have no idea what they are talking about.

If you want to dispatch and need a place to start you're going to be at a regional. Is PSA the best regional? Likely not. Is it the worst? I can't answer that. Is regional life really all that grand at any particular office? PSA is one thing only; a place to get experience and move on.

PSA is a mess. Has been for a long time, likely will be for a long time. It's not a great place to work but you'll get out of it what you put in. You can be the typical 20- something with a fresh license who thinks the world owes you something or you can work for what you want. I can guarantee if you put the work in and improve yourself and your skills you won't have to spend your life jumping from regional to regional.

Keep in mind that they do know. First hand. If you want to get that fresh license violated or revoked, PSA all the way baby. Where else can you dispatch 121 like its 135. Facts remain nobody has moved on to a major without prior experience from somewhere else. Most everyone at PSA are desperately trying to escape, problem is, nobody will hire them. Unless your dream is to work for Southern or ABX, there's no need to be subjected to that place when there are better places to work.

It's not all unicorns and rainbows like a lot of you on this forum like to portray. Sometimes you gotta be real and honest.

OP3 DQT MT3 The only things that matter at PSA.

Training. Non existent.
Contract negotiations. Non existent.
Oversight and accountability. Non existent.
Management support. Non existent.

It's also one of if not the lowest laying regional. Hell even Piedmont pays more. Let that sink in.

Thanks for the list, I looked all those up when I was applying. Also there's QXE in Portland, OR.

And you are correct, 9E and CP are both located in Delta Building C on the grounds of MSP.

100% serious I felt I learned more from flamingo than I did from the training at psa. Putting out a fire and learning how to open a crj200 door was the highlight of "training".

You know, I've heard that from a few people that PSA embodies the sink or swim style of dispatching.

Pretty much. And the really sick thing is as soon as you are signed off you are really only held accountable for 45 mins + 600 for 200/800lbs for 700/900 and delay codes. Quality and legality of dispatching is only held accountable via the pilot making dimes.

yet another one got the call...from a another regional tho...wahh waaah. Thats -4 in 3 weeks. Nice work, kudos to the PSA OCC MANAGER ...he's one hellava guy!!!
Tell us how you do it?? Or better yet, just pack your crap and leave.

People who complain about their current situation without making an effort to change it shouldnt be listened to.
Is PSA perfect? ....No. Is it a good start to your career?.... Yes.

Hey Rincoln,
Thats exactly what I tell the poor folks that work there. I dont work there so I guess you win...there's nothing I can do. But I will say IT IS NOT a good start to a career. There are many that are waaaaay better.

Congrats on your new job btw......

Taxiback,
Not working here makes it really hard to comment on the current situation here, I would think.
I have been here for a little while but thanks for the congrats.

The place won't change. Many before you have tried, they just don't get it. Don't waste your time, just get out. Trust me. And good start at getting to another regional....

No matter how quick they 'promote' you (by default) it's not going to help. They just suck people in that way. Take a look around. Yeah. None of those people are even remotely qualified to work anywhere else. Don't fall for it.

Its ironic how a promotion from daddy hark will change ones tune rather quickly, especially with that holiday bonus eh? $$$$$

This thread is Hilaaaarious! Im applying to PSA today...I will report back as to my findings. Stay tuned.
When I go for the interview, what will they be looking for in terms of a pulse?? Will I need both hands at the same time? Cuz I cant do that.
And the lastly, whose royal arse do I need to chase after in order to get promoted after dispatching my first 100 airplanes? Is it Daddy Harkema?

I got an Acceptance letter from PSA, now that I read this kind of nervous. Is it really that bad?
Is this a joke? Do whatever you feel is right for you... just don't sign a long term lease in case you end up seeing how big of a dumpster fire it really is sooner rather than later. And trust me, you will. If you can find something that gives you a very short term lease or even month to month while you continue to apply at other regionals then at least you're collecting a paycheck while continuing the job hunt.
