:laff:

Colgan sucks giant big Donkey Schlong POOP! I wanted nothing to do with making that place better after a few months because the place didn't deserve to be better!

Smittey, quit rambling about how you went to Colgan for QOL and equipment. BULL! You went to Colgan for the same damn reason I did over a year ago - they offered you a job! If you could make $10 more an hour, work for a Union company with much better benefits and work rules, you WOULD.

Come on...if you *really* wanted to improve the industry, you wouldn't have went there. Period. I'm just as guilty as you were. I didn't know much about the company, I was a wet-behind-the-ears CFI that just wanted to get my break in the 121 World. Colgan just happened to be willing to give me that break and so I went for it. I also jumped on the Union bandwagon because Seggs played a big part in helping me get that job and I believed in standing behind a good cause.

Truth is, after a few months I realized what a DUMP the place is. I realized what COLGAN is all about. Honestly, I wanted to leave well short of my 6 month mark. I decided I wouldn't make the same mistake twice, and give serious thought and research into my "lateral" move. I'm glad I did.

If you want to help the industry, then LEAVE Colgan. They are robbing flying from the XJT while you slave it out trying to make it "better". By the time it gets any "better", the damage would have already been done. Colgan would have already undercut half the industry. If you want to help- then LEAVE. I agree with Chris, the place is a CESSPOOL.

Guys like Seggy, Cruise and Rocketman, I feel for them because they have no where to go but UP. A lateral move would be a stupid decision unless they could get a street Captain job somewhere else. Seggy risked a LOT to help bring ALPA into Colgan. We should all be trying to help this guy get OUT of that place.

You should've never gone to Colgan in the first place. To be honest, you must have some great Kool-Aid drinkers there because you don't get the negative PR that mesa and lakes get, and I'd rather work at both of those places over Colgan.

You know, when you just start spouting stuff that blatent, it makes it really obvious you're just going after colgan becuase you don't like colgan...

Mesa or Great Lakes over Colgan? Come on now.

Side note: Just a few more months until another Alpa vote can happen isn't it?

I started at Colgan 8 months ago.
My time at Colgan I have had to put up with some crap from scheduling. But I've NEVER been called on a day off, been treated poorly, drafted, extended, activated on reserve nor had an incorrect paycheck. Crew planning is hard to get a hold of, but other than that it's a decent place to work.

Man, I've heard that a lot of Saab FO's don't believe we actually get the opposite of all that on the Beech. I've heard from a few Beech Captains who went over to the Saab that their FO's can't imagine being called on reserve or extended.

Wanna hear something funny? A few weeks ago a Saab FO asked the Captain I was flying with if he had an ATP.

... and that right there is why the union vote failed.

Disbelief in anything other than what they personally had experienced..

I want no part in anything Airdale is selling. Non-stop bitch fest and now that he's drinking the Republic kool-aid, he knows all about the industry. NO THANKS.....I'll stick to my weathered opinions from those in the 'know.'

Thanks for playing Airdale....I'm glad you found somewhere to make you happy....seriously, I am. :) I'm happy for you! But I caution you to sound like some omniscient soul when you've got less than one year in the airline industry.

Don't worry, his attitude towards the place will change soon enough, I'm sure of it.

It's funny - when I was 26 like Airdale, I knew it all about my then profession. Of course, at the time, I had been in my profession for 7 years as opposed to Airdale's one, but I digress.

My father had been in the same profession I was in for 30 years, but somehow I knew it all.

It took a little experience to know when to STFU. I'm sure he'll come around. We all do.

At least he's upbeat and positive about his new job. I hear so much complaining these days it makes me depressed.

Are you kidding me? Do a "threads started by search" and then say the same thing.

I'm not dogging the guy though. Really. He's learning, and what's fun is you can watch the process before your very eyes. Right now he thinks he learned his lesson from the Colgan thing but doesn't realize he's doing the same thing all over again. I have no doubt that one day he'll be a gray-hair who can actually give some valuable insight while modestly recounting his torrid history.

Wow. So you can use the search feature. I also interviewed at 3 other airlines that month and turned down interviews at 2 more. I went to a career fair and talked to a whole lot of people. Some airlines I actually wanted to work at and others I didn't. I used Colgan for interview practice. Colgan offered me the job and I said no because the airline I actually wanted to work for offered me a job shortly after Colgan as did two other airlines. Colgan is still a bottom feeder. Your sorry attempt to attack my credibility won't raise your sorry wages. Why don't you use your energy to get on with a respectable airline or negotiate higher wages.

:yeahthat: I'm glad he's finally happy w/ his decision though. I hope it all works out. Like I said before, I am genuinely happy for him. He's out of Colgan and on to, what seems like to him, something better. Nice! :)

It's funny, I never seem to remember any major carrier's pilots pissing on another's lower wages, generally they look to the highest paid company and complain themselves about not being as well paid.

Actually other than Horizon we have the highest wages in the industry when we are back on our original contract in 2 years. Currently we are #4 in wages even though we are in concessions and we have work rules as good or better than any one out there. My point was thins thread wasn't supposed to be about how ###### Colgans pay is. BTW I don't waste my time interviewing where I don't want to work. You must have been way to good to fly a prop.

I'm not complaining at all. I'm just saying that we have a lot of problems just like every other regional airline out there.
