Piston Twin Good for Training and Transport -- Suggestions?

Re: Piston Twin Good for Training and Transport -- Suggestio

The 340 sucks compared to it's 400-series brethren.

Agreed...the 340 isn't that wonderful of an airplane...the 414 is a great airplane and doesn't have the engines that you have to baby like the 421.

Re: Piston Twin Good for Training and Transport -- Suggestio

I have given this a lot of thought and I think you should consider:

1) Beech 18

or, if you don't want that big a machine,

2) Cessna T-50 Bobcat

Those are the only two airplanes I could really think of in response to this thread.

Hell, find ya a good ole Beech Twin Bonanza...a friend of mine had a CHERRY one and that sucker was HUGE.

Twin bonanza but no to the geared engines on the 421?

I think I'd rather fly the 421. It's huger-er.

T-bones are pretty cool. For an airplane with a nosewheel and horizontally opposed engines. If God had wanted engines to be flat, Pratt and Whitney would have made them that way.

I stand by my two choices. They are really the only planes for the job.

Oh no, I love the 421's, it was the first "big" twin I got to fly...and they are very nice planes.

How about the Cessna Crusader (303)?

400-series for training? Tell your student to start doing some leg presses. ;)

Honestly though, what's the experience level of this student? The 400-series Cessnas are great birds but they may be a little much for a new multi student.

Re: Piston Twin Good for Training and Transport -- Suggestio

Looks like the retarded offspring of an aerostar, a baron, a navajo and a 310.

The few times I've flown a 303, I found it a very nice airplane to fly...esp since it's got trailing-link gear...makes the pilot's look like God's among men!

Cessna 303

Look like you can get a very nice one for a good price.

Edit: Looks like high time engines

Re: Piston Twin Good for Training and Transport -- Suggestio

FWIW Daniel Webster College used T303's for their multi training.
