Highly unlikely i think due to the fact that skywest has way more money than we do. If they needed the lift, they could probably easily out bid us. It would however make more sense, the 17 200's that mesaba was transfered did come from us and we operate all 3 of the same planes 200,900, saab until they are retired. Still though, I don't see it happening, especially with all the buzz at ASA, im sure mesaba wants neither, nor do they deserve it.

Considering Pinnacle had to take out a bridge loan over the holidays from a local bank to cover payroll until they got their federal tax return, I doubt they have the finances to buy much of anything right now.
 
It provides more jets to fly and more saabs for parts. Bonus feature is to make yet another pilot group miserably hate life.

The company asks the pilot group for major concessions without offering anything in return and the NMB feels its best to put us on ice?? AGAIN? I really don't get how this whole process works.

Fall of '08 company stalls in DC, we get put on ice. Summer of '10 company asks for concessions, we get put on ice. When is it our turn???:dunno:
 
So was that the official word back from the NMB, on ice.....again? Jesus Christ. When do WE catch a break. Meanwhile, the company is apparently saving enough money on our backs to buy ANOTHER airline.....

It can. We will immediately engage with our Pilots’ union to find a temporary solution that would allow furloughed Mesaba pilots to move to Colgan or Pinnacle. Pinnacle will be hiring this month for an August class and Colgan is hiring now for the Q400 deliveries that begin this August. We say “temporary” because it normally takes time to work out the seniority issues created when unionized employees move from one company to another.

Yeah, that just confirms the rumor we've been hearing for a few weeks now. If the rest of the rumor is true, it's only 6. I know one guy that just got the thumbs up from Delta, about 4 are in phase II at jetBlue and 3 going to Emirates. 6 new hires won't even cover what we're losing just from people I know.

Not really. It just means that it's time for a new strategy. Evidently, the Board wasn't happy with the direction the MEC was taking. So, the MEC will have to re-evaluate things to see what they can do to present things in a better light to the NMB.

I'm not sure that that's a fair characterization of what has actually happened. According to the last PCL negotiations update, it said that the company offered improvements to the later longevity steps in retirement in exchange for the insurance concessions that they requested. So, they made some movement, even though it's not what you would like. I have some thoughts on what I would do if I was the PCL negotiationg committee, but I'm not, so I'll keep it to myself. I'll just say that this action from the NMB likely indicates that they think some movement from the union would be appropriate at this point.

Ah yes.. 5+ years of negotiating.. Let's change strategies one more time.. I'm sure once we hit the decade point we'll swap them again..

Is there a point where anyone can just admit that the MEC cannot accomplish it's task? I mean, really.. Even for you ALPA diehardians.. When do you get to a point where it's woefully obvious that the group "fighting" for the pilots is useless?

Todd, did you read the company's "improvement" for retirement? It was about 1% for the top seniority guys while EVERYONE got hosed on health benefits. To me, that's not an improvement, it's a concession unless they give me the pay rate to make up for the difference in health care costs. I (hopefully) would never see the "improvement" they offered since I don't want to make Pinnacle my career airline of choice. If that's what the NMB thinks is a fair offer and movement in the right direction, maybe we WERE better off with the old NMB guys.....
