Pacific Wings/New Mexico Airlines

Incidentally, to give an example of an operator that fits more in to the "work hard for not much pay, but don't fear for your life or certificate" category, have you looked at Air Cargo Carriers flying the Irish Concorde up there in Wisconsin? The F/O pay is, I think, abysmal, and of course it's freight flying in an old school airplane (so, you know, it's Work), but I believe they at least used to hire guys in the "very low time" area (~500-700 hours, IMS) and I've had a fair amount of interaction with guys who have worked there over the years. I won't say that every review was "glowing", but they were generally positive, and certainly nothing even remotely like the PW guys I've talked to.

Plus you're actually a type certificate required crewmember, so you can log it! Not to mention the obvious "hair on chest" benefits...
Applied :)

Thanks for the advice. I think I have a few better options than PW.

I am not sure I buy the painted boots thing...

*shrug*. I might not believe it either if I hadn't seen it. But I did. There are plenty of reasons to steer clear of PW without making stuff up, and I don't really have a dog in the fight, not having ever worked for them. But I tell you now that on the Atlantic ramp at KATL around 2008 or 9 I reached up there and touched the damned thing because I couldn't believe it, either. And since I'd just landed myself, I'm pretty sure I wasn't that drunk.

But, whatever, no need to spend your money here, buy something more useful. Like a subscription to AOPA's Legal Services...

I believe he was a flight attendant for them

Ah ok makes more sense but... Great Mistakes is more reputable than this outfit.

May also want to consider Silver Airways. They seem alright and there are a few members here that are current / former employees.

I think the main issue is that he's real low time less than 300 hours or so. I could be wrong. But that's not gonna cut it for silver or even GLA at the moment. Shoot, if you've got the minimums to work for silver then you've got the minimums for all the regionals. The new rule really is slowly killing them.

It may mean that places like PW will get away with paying even less since there will be a huge influx of low timers looking to build time.

True.

Also true.
Except...GLA now has a 135 cert and I have a scheduled interview with them. But I have heard nothing but bad so I really do not want to go there.

Unfortunately, I do not have the means to get my cfi right now. I plan to as soon as I can financially. But until then, I am doing research on these 135 carriers that hire FOs. So far it sounds like SeaPort is one of the better ones. But does that just mean they are the "skinnyest kid at fat camp"? Who knows. They seem to pay the best and fly the most with the FO able to log time.

Why on earth did you even CONSIDER Pacific Wings if you work for AirWhiskey? Or another US Airways Express carrier....?
I have a "letter of intent" from the chief pilot with air whiskey to interview as soon as I meet ATP minimums. I made a lot of connections there as a flight attendant and I left to get my ratings. Unfortunately, I did not finish in time to beat the ATP rule.

Word of advice... NMA is the joke of flying in New Mexico. Don't be a part of that joke :ooh:

Recent information: They fire if they feel like it.

So feel free to work for them if you want to put you have been fired on your resume...

I applied. They sound like the best of the "not so good" that hire low time guys.
Calling a place you apply to 'not so good' online is a great way to not get hired. Especially when you use your name, or parts thereof in your handle.

I don't have a problem with any of these airlines. Everyone else has something bad to say...not me!

Hints the "quotes"!!

I actually personally know two people at SeaPort...they like it and think it is one of the best entry level gigs a pilot can get.

However, my experience on THIS forum tells me I shouldn't speak my mind and defend companies because people are just waiting to lecture you about how bad all these entry level jobs are. There's even a couple people who work for some of these companies that say "stay away". Perhaps you could give them advise so they don't get fired?

Never said anyone was getting fired. All I know is that there are a fair amount of people on here who have their hand in hiring people. If I was in a position to say yay or nay and saw you say the company was "not so good", your resume would end up in the round file.
