Want to Buy Old, unwanted headset

I am planning on embarking on a project similar to Morgan's (http://forums.jetcareers.com/general-topics/79203-cheap-homemade-aviation-headset-thread.html).

I have already ordered my earphones from The Speaker Company, http://www.thespeakercompany.com/IE-5B-High-Fidelity-In-Ear-Style-Headphones-P97C26.aspx, which are supposed to be good quality and the price is excellent.

I would really like to get my hands on an old, unwanted headset that I can butcher for parts. If the speaker part no longer works that is no problem, I am only interested in the mic and the wiring.

I can buy a new mic and the cabling online, but I'd rather see if anyone here has anything they are willing to donate/sell on the cheap.

Thanks

I have an extra http://www.amazon.com/Logitech-Prec...1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1248151351&sr=8-1 but the wiring came off of the earpiece inside the headset. It would be quick and easy to solder it back, but I was lazy and bought another headset.

Thanks for the offer, but I am more interested in a previously loved aviation headset, as I'm looking for the electret mic and the the cabling...

Thanks though...

i have a few used ground support DCs laying around. When I get to the shop I'll bring a few home, sound good for you?

Does anyone have pictures on how to wire the project box up that Mojo6911 had built? I have all the supplies but can't figure out how to get it all together. Can someone PLEASE HELP!!!!

Diego, PM sent.

Jeremy, I am using these links: http://www.vansairforce.com/community/showthread.php?t=20917 http://www.cozy1200.com/geeklog/article.php?story=20070427102533266 http://www.canardzone.com/members/nickugolini/CuplessHeadet/cupless_headset.htm

This link shows you how to wire up the mic http://www.aeroelectric.com/articles/micjack/micjack.html. If you are not interested in wiring a PTT into your system, you just need to connect the mic to the 'ring' and the 'sleeve' on the plug. If you want to use a PTT (which is what I am doing) you just need to connect a push switch between the 'tip' and the 'sleeve'.

As for the transformer, assuming you bough the Radioshack transformer, have a read of this little doosey: http://rst-engr.com/rst/articles/KP85OCT.pdf. The red and the white are marked on the back of the transformers packaging as being the 8ohm side, so that will be your 'secondary' or stereo headset side. Thus the primary is going to be the blue, black and green side which you will connect your airplane headset cable into. Posts number 90ish and above in the Vans Airforce thread should explain the wiring, but basicall you want to use the blue and green for your headphone plug.

What else...

Thats for the information. I have all the supplies that Mojo6911 had listed on the link above. I'm just waiting on the Plantronics 480 Headset.

I have a plantronics 480 headset that is allready built, i want to sell. I hate to get rid of it, but i need the money. It comes with the original plantronics box all the adapter for the headset and the aviation cable. It is already wired to work in the airplane. I will let is go for $100.00 with free priority shipping. Please let me know.
