Oh Alaska/Boeing

Maybe a dumb question: the text of the AD says "further flight is prohibited until the airplane is inspected and all applicable corrective actions have been performed," but doesn’t currently have any details about the inspection or corrective actions. Are the details disseminated somewhere else or are the details TBD?

How many airlines does this AD impact?

This is an interesting situation. We grounded our fleet first and began inspections first. However, with the FAA AD coming out, our fleet appears to once again be grounded and there isn't much information being given in terms of what they are inspecting and having to comply with.

Everyone keeps saying this, it must not fly at all like the sim if that’s the case.

I actually enjoy it. Definitely flies better than the sim, except some of the older planes that are so bent and crooked you just can't help but wonder what happened to this poor old bird. Consistently greasing it on is a challenge, but I enjoy that. Whenever I get in a good streak and think I've mastered it, the 737 has a way of reminding me i have certainly have NOT mastered it and humbles me back down. It builds character I guess 😂

My biggest grievance is its just so damn uncomfortable. This seat has to be the worst seat ever imagined. I used to think it was spacious from the jumpseat and didn't realized how confined the pilot seats really are.

I not only can’t get comfortable in the 737, I can rarely find the optimal seating position. It was so easy to find the sweet spot in the Airbus but this thing, I can either not see the HGS properly, or my legs are up too close to the yoke, or I can’t reach the thrust levers when they are in the takeoff position without lurching forward.

I have seen nothing from the FAA or NTSB indicating they even know what we need to be looking for, which is kinda concerning.

The sim flies like it’s bogged down in mud while still somehow being twitchy. I’m sure some of it is just the transition from a 20k lb airplane with cables and pulleys to a 150k lb plane with hydraulics and some of it is the sim and the rest is me but the airplane better be a lot different

Wouldn’t it be crazy if someone intentionally set up the cockpit with an optimal eyeball position, and then gave you a little alignment guide to help you set your seat properly for said eyeball position.

I haven't read the AD but I'd assume it would refer to the AMM procedure for what I call a 72 month and I think the airlines refer to as a D check. Normally that inspection would be done after the entire interior has been removed to access everything. I thought I heard the airplane in question was delivered in Oct 23? Boeing has some questions to answer on this one.
