It was one of the changes from -900 to -900ER. The max seating capacity of the original -900 was limited by exits, and couldn't accommodate high density seating configs, making it unmarketable to certain airlines like LionAir. It carried over from -900ER to -MAX9 for the same reason. If there are two types of people in the world......the ones aware of the existence of this "plug" door in the 737, and the ones who aren't, I would have described myself as the latter. What the F other weird Easter eggs of years past are in these jalopies?Seriously though, is that just where the aft doors used to be in the short body planes, and it was carried forward or something? Or was it intended as an additional door, even with the aft doors?
Taco Bell is a hell of a drug.Explosive decompression. Or as I like to call it, my morning bathroom routine at 915am.
Any of yall know if the “made by a contractor” is true about the plug?
I’d heard from someone in MX that the plane had 2 pressurisation issues day prior.
Do you mean a contractor other than spirit aero systems who builds the fuselage? Fwiw if you look at pictures of fuselages on the train from spirit, they appear to leave Kansas with the plugs installed.Any of yall know if the “made by a contractor” is true about the plug?
Also I just want to say that the 737 is the songbird of our generation.

This video from the 737 Tech Site says the overhead door lamp panels are the same between the NG and MAXX (but not if deactivation of the door includes the lamp).
