NYC PEPC peoples

i KNOW no one willl listen to this, but ill write it anyway. you DO NOT, again, DO NOT need to wear a suit. you will be in the interview for about 20-30 minutes depending on how much you talk, then you get your TOL and then you will be running around for 4 hours. EVERYONE who had on a suit the day of my pepc was walking around with it in their hand for 3.5 hours out of the 4. i wore nice pants, a dress shirt, sweater vest, shoes, no tie. the interview is such a joke. there is honestly nothing you can say that would stop them from giving you the TOL. unless you said that you want to kill animals. haha.

so to wrap up....YOU DO NOT NEED A SUIT, DO NOT, DO NOT, DO NOT NEED A SUIT

yes thank you...

the job requires semi-casual clothing, and before bush was in office, the only thing required was pants, not dress pants, but pants.

A sweater vest... Really. Did your mom dress you?

Suit it is. I roll into NYC around 11:30 and wouldnt mind poking around the city. Though I have to be very budget conscience.
If you're staying close to the pepc, you're no where near the city (Manhattan), it's like 2 buses and then another 45 minute subway ride away. Or you could catch a cab for $20-30 one way.

piece of info from my Rep. She recommends a suit as well I understand the arguement for less formal but dont see any reason to not put our best foot forward for an opportunity that is as significant as this. Personally I can stand 6 or 8 hours of a suit to add a point or two in my favor.

if your in Jamaica, then your really close to the city. you just hop on the train and you will be there in like 20-25 minutes max. might be less than that. but if your on a budget, then dont go to the city. its soooo over-priced, and crowded, and dirty.

So how much does it cost to ride the train?

Two ways you can get into the city. Buy a day fun pass metro card for 7.50. I believe most hotels sell these otherwise you may want to buy one at the airport. I believe most of the news shops (hudson news) sell them. From the fairfield take the q6 bus to jamaica station. Get on the E train to Manhattan. When finished do reverse.

option 2: Take the hotel shuttle back to the airport. Take the airtrain to either the E or A line. The airtrain costs 5.00 to exit the airport, another 5.00 when you come back. That is not included in your day pass.

Taking a cab will probably be closer to 50 or 60 I would think. I have taken a cab back and forth to laguardia from manhattan before and it's usually 30-40. You can get a decent deal on the towncar service but if you don;t know how must it should cost, don't take them, they will screw you. I just saw one tell someone a few weeks ago from a laguardia hotel it would be 60 bucks to go into manhattan. I told her not to do it she should call a meter cab.

There is also the Long Island Express which I am not familiar with except that it goes right into Penn Station and is faster that the Metro. I think that's the 12 dollar fare one.

Have fun it's a great experience, I definitely recommend going into Manhattan for anyone that has time and hasn't been there before. I was hoping for the NY PEPC so I would have an excuse to go since I don't make it to NYC as often as I used to.
