Ny Pepc Start Time

I was told to expect my FOL in 3-6 weeks, and that OKC for me should be somewhere around mid-late October. Eh... I've spent the holidays away from home... who knows... maybe we may get the holidays off and still get paid, that'd be SWEET, but highly unlikely!

For all you terminal guys like myself, we seem to have different options for OKC start dates.... I went through the NY PEPC today and I received a TOL for a start date at OKC for 7/29.... That is a lot better than October for me anyways, some of the other guys took a class date a month or so later so there is options....

Good to know. I'm in NY right now for the PEPC tomorrow. I'm hoping for a mid to late Aug. academy date. Any last words of advice? I'm anticipating I'll be there 5-6 hrs, sound about right?

you are about right with the 5-6hr wait.... Everyone is very very very nice and smiling and telling you congratulations and they push you through there to where the time goes by quicker than you think(speaking for myself). Make sure you have any questions you may want to ask HR since they will be there and available to you(I remembered a question after I left :(). The interview and everything else is a formality and its very painless.... Good luck!!

Did you have to go to the "special room"?

Just got back home from the PEPC. If you're going tomorrow dont stress, it's all a formality and everyone is really nice. I got PCT and a OKC date for August 26th.

Just got back from the PEPC tonight as well. The tentative dates they gave me to start in OKC were either 08/18 or 08/26. I'm glad things are moving along so quickly. For everything who hasn't gone through the process of the PEPC do not threat, it is more fun than you think and you get to meet some great people who you will hopefully meet again in a month or two.

I'm guessing you two are going to a terminal facility??

OH- does anyone know... on my TOL it says my salary is going to be $19K for training in OKC, which includes locality pay. Is this also including the per diem of $79, or is that something I can expect to count on on TOP of the $19K salary. Also same question, but once I get to my facility?

Another thing on my mind... has there been anyone who went to a PEPC and didn't get a job offer??

From what I understood from the girl at HR yesterday..

Your training salary (20k) is what you will be payed at OKC. So that breaks down to be about $375/per week. Your per diem is in addition to that, which is $80/day. Apparently $50 of that must go towards housing, what you don't use, you lose. The other $30 goes towards food, but if you choose to skip a meal or starve yourself, that money is yours to keep.

So we have $50 for housing and if we stay somewhere for $30/day we do NOT receive the remaining $20 as part of the per diem?

Here's what the Student Services New Hire Orientation says... not if it's the latest and greatest though!

  • You will be reimbursed for the following travel expenses to attend classes at the MMAC in OKC.
    • Travel from your home of record to OKC
    • Per Diem for you living expenses during your stay in OKC
    • Travel from OKC to your home of record at the completion of training.
  • Students who do not have to travel to OKC (50 miles or less) will not be placed on travel orders and do not qualify for for travel entitlements.
  • While you are in training you will be reimbursed a fixed rate of $79.20 per day.
    • Rate based on 60% of the OKC locality rate.
    • Covers meals, lodging, local transportation, phone calls, and any other incidental expenses.
    • You will not be reimbursed for mileage or gasoline while training in OKC.
    • You must stay in commerical lodging to receive the fixed rate.
  • AT New Hire Students can submit their vouchers to the Travel office in 15 or 30 day increments.
  • Completed travel voucher must be submitted to the Travel Office for reimbursement. Do not use GovTrip to submit vouchers.
  • You must submit a Travel Voucher (SF 1012) to be reimbursed for expenses.
  • Travel questions should be directed to Dana Holliday (405-954-2695) or Michelle Beltran (405-954-7274) in the Travel Office. Do not depend on hearsay or rumor. This could impact your pocketbook!
  • WELCOME TO THE FAA! Enjoy your stay in OKC and good luck in your new career!

Yeah, I've read that. The other comment seems to contradict what the website states. That's why I was looking for clarification. Seems you get multiple stories on this forum. Guess we will all find out on our own eventually.

I just got back from the NY PEPC this morning at 3:00am...

I got RSW in Ft Myers and a TOL with a tentative OKC start date of 8-26-08. I ran into a little bit of difficulty with the medical portion though, so I hope everything will check out. Everyone there was as nice as could be, and besides some technical difficulties with the MMPI computers, everything went smoothly.

Did anyone else get a kick out of that MMPI ? ' Do you ever hear voices when no one is around ' , ' Are you pleased with your sex life' etc etc. In all honesty the worst part of the whole process was the E-QIP, entering the whole security packet we already filled out into the computer. :banghead:

Anyone going to OKC Aug 26 interested in rooming together once we get our FOL ?

You have it backwards, you get 30$ a day for lodging and abround 50$/day for food, etc. Theres alot of housing by there that costs exactly the 30$ a day but ive heard alot is full so you could rent and claim your expenses for lodging up to 30$ per day.

Hmm,,, roomies... only if you're willing to submit an SF86! :D I kid, I kid.

If you're complaining about entering the 85, you're not making me very happy about having to enter the 86!

Today was a good day....no background check neccessary (Thanks Lockheed!!!)

I will not bore you with the details as it has already been covered but it is worthy to mention that from my own experience today the FAA managers are as cool as can be (I doubt it was a front). I specifically interviewed with the manager of Griffiss Tracon (upstate NY) and he was such a nice guy and made a point to come find me in the maze of all the processes to offer his contact information and as we were chatting I asked him some specific questions relating to my facility...long story short he did not know the answer off hand but went out of his way to print the info (e.g., my manager's contact info, current staffing ratios, budget, etc). off from the FAA employee website

Advice needed. I don't have my appointment time yet, but even if I got stuck with the last appointment time in the day, what would be the latest I'd get out of there? I'm looking at flights and there's a direct flight back home leaving at 725pm on the day of my interview and I'm wondering if I'd be able to make it.

Thanks.
