Non-aviation, supplemental second jobs for airline pilots

...or you could spend your energy and whatever native intelligence with which you're gifted pounding the pavement and getting in to an aviation-appliance-operation job which is remunerative enough for you to do well enough without needing to side-hustle. It's like DIY home repair. I used to do it, and it was instructive and interesting, but the truth is I'm not very good at it, certainly not as good as someone who does it for a living. And I can just pick up a trip or two and pay someone who actually knows what the hell they're doing, now. Everyone wins.

Isn’t Liberty associated with Jerry Falwell and requires all sorts of weird religious classes?

I don't know what all the deal is, but their aviation school is highly rated, and the person I know teaches chemistry or physics (both?) and doesn't seem to have to deal with any religious crazy.

I technically have a second and third side gig. Only one involves flying and doesn't count towards FAR flight time, other one is WFH. Not planning on having them long term, but maybe for a few more years. Extra cash, and both are reliable safety nets should the industry/economy tank, which is why I do them.

Yes, not my writing, but stolen from another site, and this was their submission for a paper.

Some like to instruct on the side, whether it’s to do fun flying like floatplane instruction, or to give back to the next generation.

Any idea how much it costs to get a CFI now days?
Looks interesting

They also have a bad habit of punishing women that complain of on campus sexual assault because sexual activity violates their morality policies.

They also are paying Hugh Freeze $4M a year after he got fired from Ole Miss for using his university cell phone to book escorts, among a buttload of other recruiting violations.

I wouldn’t mind teaching online courses as a side job, but in my field this is how Liberty wants things taught:

The purpose of this course and its associated lab is to reveal the complex inter-relatedness of earth processes affecting the hydrosphere, atmosphere, and lithosphere. These processes and the contemporary scientific paradigms upon which they are founded will be evaluated via the grid of biblical revelation. Naturally, particular attention will be given to the Book of Genesis. In the end, this course is designed to broaden the student’s understanding of the earth and its function from both scientific and biblical perspectives.

I think it speaks volumes about the quality of their curriculum.
