No more Brasilias at SkyWest...

I liked the Brasilia. But the 1995 order of commuters from worst to first in passenger preference is clearly:

Metroliner, Beech1900C, Jetstream 31/32, Beech1900D, Jetstream 41, Shorts 330/360, Brasilia, Saab 340, Dash 8, Dornier 328, Jetstream 61 (ATP).

Disagree? That's ok, you can be wrong.
-*snorts* you left out the 99. Get a clue dude.

I have a really hard time picturing seats and passengers in the back of our Metros and 1900s.

What an awful, horrifying, back injury aggravating ride that must have been! :)

Damn. That is pretty quick. Generally we are in the 260-290 TAS range. Still faster than Ravns Dash8s.

While flying the bro at AMF, we'd give the competitors who flew Saabs on the same route we flew a 10 to minute head start (sometimes up to 30) and we'd past the by like they were sitting still. They could only get up into the high teens and we'd be chugging along in the mid twenties.

I'd rank the commuters I've flown that were fun to fly as:

1. Metro
2.Brasilia and Chieftan in a tie.
3. Beech 99

I havent flown the SAAB during the Summer yet, but I have heard that teens are about right for summer. But Winter sure is nice. We can take it up to FL250 coming back from Dutch.

The bro in cold air has to be pulled back considerably to get off the barber poll at FL280. I've never done it but some of the guys told me that it can climb out so steep that it disappears for ATC's radar when its cold out and its nearly empty. "I know you want to run, but easy girl!"

IBC flies them REALLY slow. I'd catch them both out and back on our Miami - Grand Cayman run in a Metro, with a 10 minute head start.
Interesting. We run off the SAAB power charts and we do ok on speed. Down low you can get close to barber pole. How fast are they going?

From what they told me...they true at 240 to 250. The brasilia trues at 290 to 210. Their planes aren't the best and the struggle up to FL180 while the brasilia can climb through can climb through FL180 at 1000fpm.

No idea, I estimate 30 knots slower. Our better Metros true out around 260 at 210
It looks like they are running A model freighters, which are really under powered. Our Bs and B+ true out around 260.
