Hey Kolgan boy it's PenAir not Penn Air. As in Peninsula Airways not Pennsylvania Airways. Get it right
On a side note it was kinda sad to see the ole Captain America SF3 in BOS for the last time yesterday. She looked sad sitting over in North Cargo behind the JAL Dreamliner.
Captain America Saabs reminds me of the white trash dangerous airline that was Colgan Air. Lowest pay, low safety standards, pilot pushing, mx issues and violations, MF testifying in front of Congress, washing her hands of any 3407 responsibility ....amazing that it lasted so long.
Ran by kids whose Daddy bought them an airline to play with and run.
5 years at Colgan, I know how bad it really was..
They tell spanjers what to do and he does it, if he is unable to get it done, he will be out of a job too.
Well said. The sad part is that in essense, they are saying that the proposed term sheet isn't enough, we're going to look it over again and put in more concessions. THEN we'll negotiate. You gotta like the part about how they will reformulate the business plan and "identify the concessions necessary to make it work...."So anyone else see the fear inducing e-mail from Spanjers? Delta wanting to reduce more -200s and telling us we're not competitive when it comes to bidding for the -900. Basically, the company is saying that we just cost so much more than everyone else. Uh....no we don't. If you look at pay and benefits, we didn't get the moon in the last contract. We got what everyone else already had. They might actually have to MANAGE costs, but they'd rather "stop labor negotiations" to no doubt come back and try to get us slashed down to Great Lakes levels in bankruptcy. Parked -200s + serious labor concessions = me leaving. I'm not commuting to JFK with reduced pay, health insurance and only 11 days off a month when I can make just a bit less and be home every night as a button pusher at a theme park....
I think most of us feel the same way Rob... I gave up hope about two months ago...I'm normally a pretty "glass half full" type of person when it comes to this company. Don't know why, just am. However yesterday my attitude changed. This place is done. I have no clue what it'll be in a few years, but I certainly don't plan on having anything to do with it anymore. My suffering now will not be rewarded when we pass through the storm. They'll always want something, and I'll always feel like I'm getting the shaft so that "the man" can make a buck and get his golden parachute at the end. While I'm stuck with lost time, lost wages, and an extreme loss in quality of life. The first opportunity I have to make an exit, I plan to do so. Such a shame, because I truly believe we have one of the best pilot groups in the industry, and not one of us deserve any of this.

What's the deal with the Blue? Haven't they had any classes this year? Why are they stalling?
New TA has us "overstaffed" by 300 and they're hoping some of the heavy metal guys take an early to ameliorate any "overstaffing" before the new rest rules come into play.
Eyeroll, facepalm and all that.

You mean the early out that is 100% controlled by and at the discretion of the company and terminated whenever they please? But wait the new highly techinal analysis of potential job loss by DALPA statisticians (read salesmen) is now calculating that the contract will only cost 125 jobs....which is nothing more than prepping us for the inevitable lower than anticipated accepted early outs by the company. But hey it's too late now! Throw in increased line values, reserves flying ALV+15 against their will, changing the 30 day bid calendar months...I'll show DALPA where to stick their early out.
If it makes it make you feel better, the last two ex military CA's I flew with assured me that my concerns regarding ALV+15 were unfounded because the company has never and will never fly reserves that much. It's impossible! Well those of us that worked at the regionals, flying even less product able trips, are not that ignorant. Without the work rules you can't blame the company for doing what the pilot group allowed them to do.
