Moved out of Calpcapts JS thread

If anything it just goes to show he has nothing of value to say. I'm just hammering that point home.

"He who hath eyes let him see."

I see it, sure others do, no need to press the point and feed his love of attention.

Insanity is defined as doing the samething over and over, yet expecting different results!

Looks like I'm trying to reason with another product of American public school education...

WOW.........

So I guess you went to fine private institutions, right?. Lucky you.

Kiddy attends fine schools that daddy pays for, after school kiddy gets top notch FREE flight instruction in the Air Force, although he hates free loaders, (see GA user fees thread). After serving, he lands a highly ($$)rewarding civil pilot job.

Now kiddy, can't afford his payments on the last sports car, and because kiddy is used to get all he wanted through his entire life, now kiddy hates the world, and won't let those mean pilots get on his aircraft.

Maybe kiddy, should leave the profession if he's not happy with the current conditions. After all, if you appreciate your "integrity", and "professional honor" so much, why do you still working for a system that you hate, and that is the ultimate responsible for everything you are criticizing.

I can't see how a Jetblue pilot should be responsible on keeping your high salary as it is.

Stop blaming him/her, and instead strike or do whatever you think will change things in your favor.

I'm just a lowly PPL and probably have no business chiming in with this thread, but I'm a little naive about the whole thing and how it works.

I understand that the Captain has discretion about who he/she allows in the JS. If Airline A has a JS Agreement with Airline X, Y and Z, and pilot from Airline Y wants a ride on Airline A but said Airline A Captain has a personal agenda he's carrying out, doesn't that violate the JS Agreement between said Airlines? In retaliation, a Captain from Airline Y that has heard about this denies previously agreed upon privileges to pilot from Airline A. Then won't this whole thing turn into a battle between the airlines to the point that JS Agreements are rescinded?

Absolutely. You make a great point. Our Jumpseat Coordinator (furloughed TWA/AA) worked long and hard for us to have agreements with virtually every U.S. carrier, and one bad apple could topple any of them.

Back at my first airline, Atlantic Coast, we started a transition into Independence Air. Due to our agreement, we were still flying as United Express for 6 more months. A UAL captain decided to give me the boot on the very first day of IDE flying, saying that our airline "sold out" United. (Actually, United sold us out by demanding that we fly for lower rates that would ensure our pilot group took a pay cut.)

This was in spite of the station manager explaining to him that I was still a United Express pilot and eligible for the cockpit jumpseat. He made it clear that is was his own personal agenda. I felt bad for the FO who had to fly with him. Guess what? Since I called my ALPA reps and Chief Pilot right away, that CA actually put the j/s agreement at risk for the whole UAL pilot group. By the time he got to IAD, he was called directly to the Chief Pilot's office and given a nice reprimand. Many of those guys really wanted to continue to commute on us. In two and a half years of commuting, though, every UAL Captain I met was a class act, except that one guy.

Thankfully, I did make it to work that day. Guess who gave me a lift? jetBlue, an airline staffed by many furloughed legacy carrier pilots who actually do have a right to be bitter. Yet, they always greet you with a handshake, smile, and a ride to work.

To wrap it up, the only thing more pointless than Flightinfo.com is starting a jumpseat war.

Managements could care less about Jetblues rates. Management saying that they needed to be leaner and meaner was simply a ######## selling point to get the employee groups to acquiesce with their concession demands of working harder with less. It was quite simply greed in the form of bankruptcy profiteering, cooked books, creative accounting no more, no less..

I think you've got it half right, Max. Of course, they care about jetBlue rates. At the time, jetBlue was the media darling. New entrant. Low wages (40% below average). No retirement funding. They became the model for how to cut wages and benefits.

How did the airlines respond? Chapter 11. Abrogate Union contracts. Put the gun to the head of the pilots and threaten to liquidate unless they acquiesced.

And they got what they wanted. Now everybody's pay and benefits is approaching the jetBlue model. The airlines have returned to profitability and jetBlue has lost its competitive edge.

Then along comes Virgin and lowers the bar even more. The pressure will be on to match. Fortunately, the airlines will not be able to rely on the Bankruptcy Code this time.

Guess what? Along comes Skybus and lowers the bar even more.

And I should extend "professional courtesies" to the guys who are lowering the bar for all of us? I don't think so.

I do agree with you about the piracy at the top. A short look at airline executive compensation (Mr. Grinstein is the notable exception) is all you need to affirm that.

And this thread is still going on because..............?
because i haven't closed it yet? ;)

but ya know what.... i think i'm gonna move this over to the pro corner as it really is more of a pro thread where actual pro's in the field can "banter" back and forth on it! :D

Thank you for your reply, but I also might remind you that you're rather emotionally charged in these debates as well!

Actually, I'm not emotional about it at all. I just love tweaking the masses.

I simply have my personal standards. No jumpseat rides for:

1. Scabs
2. jetBlue
3. Virgin
4. Skybus
5. Gojets

Simple. Its everyone else who is wrapped around the axle. LOL!

Actually, I see your reasoning but respectfully disagree. The Private Pilot made an outstanding point, and the guys who are on their way up need to see the potential pitfalls of one's command decisions.

Good Answer! ;)

I couldn't read anymore, hate and contempt were starting to leak out of my laptop's LCD. :(
