Most "Bad Ass" airplane contest, Part III.

CIVILIAN PROP

"Bad ass" criteria can include but not limited to the following:
-Toughness
-Utility
-Performance
-Versatility
-Looks

Rules:
1. This is for PROP powered CIVILIAN airplanes ONLY! Jets and military aircraft have their own threads.

2.Include a picture.

3.Include your reason why said airplane in picture is to be considered "bad ass". It doesn't have to be an essay, just something quick and simple.

4. If you agree with a previous post (or would like to add to airplanes said "bad ass" nomination), please post, as the top candidates will be involved in a future runoff.

5. Multiple nominations (as separate posts please) are permitted/encouraged.

For commercial ships, I choose the A17FS, one of the early fixed-gear Staggerwings that featured a 710hp Wright. 220-250 MPH, strong climb, good useful load. Love how the engine dominates the airplane:

For Racers, the Travel Air Mystery Ship. This airplane humiliated the military fighters of the day at the National Air Races:

And another Thompson Trophy winner, the Laird Super Solution. I like this airplane for lots of reasons, not the least of which I met the designer and owner of the company, Mr. Matty Laird and his wife. Spent a lot of time around them at a fly-in in Blakesburg, Iowa in 1982:

Nice idea.

My vote: PC-12.

Land it in the dirt, load it up with 2,000 pounds of stuff, fly it 1,500 miles and it even has a bathroom.

Plus, she's purdy. :)

Cessna 208. I dont know why, but it is a bad ass aircraft.:bandit:

If we are going with Modern airplanes, the 802 wins hands down.

How can so many of you be voting for airplanes that have horizontally opposed engines or turbines and nosewheels. Both of those things are like kryptonite for bad assness.

My vote goes for this one! :D

For those that think Bellanca is a new company and only make Citabrias and Decathlons...

The Bellanca Airbus/Aircruiser.

One of the most efficient airplanes ever built.

15 passengers or 2 tons of cargo at 145-155 mph. Outperformed similar class aircraft (namely the Tri-motor)

Powered by a Wright Cyclone 1820 (715hp)

Just to kick the "bigger is better" trend...the mighty 152 gets my vote. Being just about the cheapest plane around to rent qualifies it for the most BA award IMHO!
