My God the hat drama! Pilots get so worked up over nothing. Pilots get so worked up over nothing...I mean should we really be surprised when we are told we could face disciplinary action for being non compliant with company policy? A company policy that I KNOW has a horrible track record of being complied with?

Management loves it. Keep them distracted with the trivial stuff, that way they don't focus on the important stuff.

They monitor it on a schedule. I had this at my last shop and it was maddening. Mx pretty much sends you on your way.

Why is it maddening? Seems better to have an objective limit to go by even if it's somewhat arbitrary.

Guys, just so everyone knows...it was a joke. You know, the fire destroyed the engine, but it's only dripping at 60 drops/minute. Good to go!

Technical data is technical data. Either something meets a standard or it does not.

Sure, within limits, the aircraft is airworthy. As far a leak limits go, most components have a hard limit of drops per minute either static or pressurized depending on the component. 100 drops per min, 60 drops per min etc. per the maintenance manual. Sometimes when chasing a leak you could run an engine or apply hydraulic pressure to try and pinpoint the source.

Why is it maddening? Maybe because every time you land at an airport, you have 3 different tampers come up to tell you you have a gas leak.

Does anyone have a better story on this? I will laugh if it were a brake pad smoking and not the result of a poor fuel pump or larger oil pool in the tailpipe.
