Life at Compass

I personally find it useful that I now know where panel 195AL is located. This will greatly enhance my preflight vigilance.

If you really want to up the wow factor when you tell MX what panel has a problem-dive deeper in the MEL book.....the diagrams and panel #'s are there for them all.
Sometimes it works better than "that panel, you know, over by the thing on the # what side"

Yeah, no...they can figure it out.

Yeah, leave it to contract MX, looking in a large area, who doesn't know where to find things.....that'll work well.

Just saying, I've seen a lot of vague right ups recently. And when its that general of a writeup, people cant find it, fix it, or handle it. Its not every time a crew can babysit the plane until the mechanic shows up and have the exact area shown to them.
Its really easy to slap the ol'OPS CHECK GOOD, on something that they cant re-create. Or find.

I get what you are saying. I just think in the meager little four years I've done this job I have never been disadvantaged because someone doing a write up didn't dig up an actual part number. Maybe I'm wrong and I'll encounter exactly what you describe...until then I'm not going to make more work for myself.

The only times I vague book the log book are when I know you're taking the plane from me.

Sorry to derail the tantalizing topic of MX write ups, but for the love of God, can we get fight club going again? I ask on here because I'm hoping there's a little less fire breathing than there may be elsewhere.
I'm getting the impression that what should've been a one month slap on wrist is turning permanent; and since 2/3 of the pilots weren't here when it existed, its demise is going to go uncontested.
I'd love to see it back, a lot of people worked very hard to establish it and keep it going, but quite curious if it's absence is due to a lack of man-power, or arrogance, or what?

A few of the selected and privileged screwed it up for the rest of us a while ago young buck. Old news, Cheers from Amsterdam :)

It'd sure beat waiting til the 20th. Why do stupid people always have to ruin things for everybody else?

It would last one bid award with the way the company puts out the schedules now...there seems to always be a problem with it
