Life at Compass

You do realize all you have to do is delete and re-enter the flight number on the transponder page right? It still blows me away that more people haven't figured this out.
In the Delta airplanes, it doesn't work. If you even open the initialization page before changing the flight number in the route or radio page, you will not be able to change the flight number. It's crazy, you don't even have to actually initialize it to screw it up, just OPEN it and it will then decide you have to call for all your clearances.

doesn't always work.

Which is why I said I prefer American trips now... Sort of.

Take ten minutes and do a power reset. That will solve 99% of the problems you'll run into on this airplane.
Have you been on the airplanes that do the random seatbelt sign dings? I'll shut it down for that because on a 3 hour flight it's pretty obnoxious. It goes away with a power reset.

Yes. I can't explain why, but I've had that problem go away after the APU starts. One day I had that problem and a deferred APU. A power reset didn't fix the problem so we had to defer the seat belt sign. That was annoying.

It also goes away as soon as you start the APU.

Avoid compass at all costs. If you are human and make mistakes, do not come here. You will put your career in jeopardy by flying here. I have seen our probationary F/O's and even captains get section 19 hearings for no good reason, most of them ending in termination. (we have had more section 19 hearings in the past year than united or delta did in the last 5 years. ) Issues that are normal at other airlines and accepted as circumstances of life are blown way out of proportion here by the chief pilots. The thug mentality that is at the top tier of management is now in our chief pilots office. I have never seen and heard about such poor relations between the chiefs pilots and the pilot group in my 10 years of airline flying. Pilots have been fired here for something as simple as leaving an ID behind to literally no reason what so ever. No over exaggeration. The mistakes most of the pilots have made are simple, honest, and not malicious. The management doesn't care and the chiefs don't care. Since the new wave of chiefs took over, I have never felt like they have my back; always left out to dry. The chiefs use to call and harass pilots about fatiguing but that got shut down after one of our pilots made an anonymous phone call to the FAA about it. Hasn't happened since...

Additionally, our pilot group is weak and our union is getting stepped on by management, mainly because we are down to one rep as opposed the a fully staffed 3 reps. But, our union rep is a great guy and does what he can.

Overall, the leadership is poor. I know a lot of current compass pilots know about the crap that goes on here and I hope they will speak up. This place has gone way down hill from what it use to be.

I personally have not been bothered by management or had issues here but I have seen that once you are on their radar, you cannot get off no matter what you do. Work here at your own risk.

Aside from all the above nonsense, this place doesn't have much to offer anymore. There is no delta flow, upgrade time is getting close to RJ industry average, pay is low....just to name a few things. I would strongly consider going to Endeavor or Skywest. Both are great companies, pay better, have better management and have excellent pilot/chief pilot relationship. Take what you want from this post, I just hope you steer clear of CPZ and go to a supportive airline that will help advance your career.

Yes we all work at the same compass.
I would suggest talking to our union and getting the facts. Some people deserve the 19's but most are completely uncalled for and it doesn't seem to be getting better. Personally I am not unhappy here; upgrade was fairly quick when I started, the flying is easy and the schedule has been good to me. But, i would hate to see someone new to the airlines come here, make a small mistake and get fired for it. endeavor or Skywest would be better considerations for those just starting.
Nobody wants to hear this •, I get it, but after seeing how management has treated some of our good pilots, I feel like something needs to be said.

"Hello, @jtrain609? Sorry to both you on your day off, but another CP pilot is making claims on the internet that our company is terrible. No, I'm not in any trouble with a CP. Yes, each of the current CPs have been professional and fair with me regarding issues I've had. No, I do not require ALPA assistance. I just wanted you to substantiate these claims regarding the possible disciplinary action of pilots I don't know." I understand your "If you don't believe me, ask for yourself approach", but I don't think it's my place to ask. What's your source on the Section 19 hearings? I ask because if I had such a source, the last thing they'd want is for me to post about it. Unless your Section 19 comment is merely a rumor, in which case, carry on.

Btw, I'm not angry or offended. I just see it differently. First round on me if we cross paths in LA.
