So, random question...On the bid the seniority numbers don't math the numbers displayed in the list on flica. Could someone explain that to me?

IIRC, the seniority list is updated quarterly while the number you see in flica is more "real time."

Or something like that.

Ah, that makes since. I just sort of assumed the numbers used in the bid awards would be derived from flica.
 
Who would be a good initial point of contact to through my name in the hat for various Union volunteer positions?

Honestly anything. Unfortunately I have zero volunteer experience so I don't really have a foundation of knowledge. However, I have always been interested in various safety functions (LOSA or FOQA) as a top choice. But that being said, I really would be happy doing anything that would give back to the group and knock me out of the rut of just "flying the line."

Good on you for wanting to volunteer, just beware most of the safety related positions are the hardest to obtain, most of the time they are the only positions people really try to get into. Just my observation.

lol, yeah I kind of figured that. Like I said I have zero experience, which means I don't really know enough about the various roles to know what I really would like to do, or even what I would be good at.

There's plenty to do and I am sure plenty of openings. Find the committee roster and start asking different chairman if they need help. Keep in mind some are gone now. For some reason that list hasn't been updated in awhile...

The list is up to date now. But like you said, before you dipped it out, it was effectively obsolete.

Sure ya do! You're a current line pilot.

I felt the same way when considering positions. I volunteered for the Mentor Program. It's a way for new-hires to contact line pilots with questions they may have along the way. Being a line pilot is enough to get you started in this position.
