Life at Compass

What's gonna happen when Skywest start bringing the E175s online in LAX starting spring 2016 and you are already at Compass? Is Compass going to remain the same size in LAX? Grow? Shrink? I don't know.

If you ask a SkyWest guy, Delta is going to kick Compass out of LAX for their crappy performance and give all the flying there to SKW.

Most SKW people in LA have been around long enough to know (especially with DL) it comes and goes, a shell game. They did announce a 175 domicile yesterday, and we know about DL, UA and AK deliveries for next year. Thats it. Anything beyond that is rumor and speculation, nobody in management has said where these airplanes will be based. I actually found about the LAX base from a CPZ friend who text me yesterday asking me what I've heard! Nobody knows anything!

...it's just the gate lottery and waiting that is getting really old.

Agreed.

Sector Mgr: I can't do anything about you having three different ships for three legs, but I can have Delta Ops put you at gates close to each other.

Later......

Me: We're parking at 50B and leaving out of....69. :sigh:

Oh, but in order to fix things you guys NEED to be in the crew room to check in.

Management IDIOTS!

Out of curiosity, what do other airlines do for check-in? I work for a "national" airline and we call to check in an hour prior to show time. Sometimes it makes me feel like a first grader but just wondering if this is industry standard. Sorry to get off topic.

Yeah I think that it is a better (in the long term especially) to just stay at Skywest. I get frustrated with the minimal growth and slow movement out west but I'll just stick it out. Maybe I'll bite the bullet and just move to Minneapolis already. IDK, maybe I'll commute, (barf!). I really hate commuting. I know that some people have seen much more stagnant times than this so I'll keep my head up! The thing about SKW is that there are a lot of lifers here. Most of the Captains I fly with have no intention of going anywhere else.

The last organization I moved airplanes for didn't have anything check in related. Check in for a trip? Um are you on the plane at boarding time?
