So do they want us to put the bid in assuming we'll have the time before class? I've heard nothing official, but unofficially they allow you're to assume you're flying 75/mo and use that as a guide for bidding. I'm at 850 now and will fly 85 in April and probably May well. I'm anticipating the first June class.

One good thing about bypassing, I already have 24 below me. Lol!

Thoughts?

The fact you give some thought to "not feeling ready" is a good sign, to me, that when you do "feel ready", you will do well.

I hope every pilot here who is upgrading has thought about it and truly feels ready and just isn't upgrading because they "have their 1000".

I've been through probably a dozen upgrade programs over the course of my military career (flight leader, mission commander, instructor, and many variations thereof between different aircraft types), and for the first time through each one, I did not feel ready for any of them. After going through the training, I realized I actually was ready, and simply lacked the confidence in my own knowledge and abilities.

I'm happy that I was pushed by my leaders and peers out to positions and qualifications I didn't personally feel ready for, but which those leaders and peers knew I was ready for. Hell, if it were up to me completely feeling "ready", I'd probably still be waiting to do my first 2-ship flight leader upgrade program 15 years later!

IMHO, @grkero feeling not ready, especially given that he all ready had 121 experience before coming to Compass, is a level of self-awareness that is a strong indicator of actually being ready to start training at the next higher level.

Whoooooaaaaa wait a second here. Throttle back.......

A 121 upgrade is nothing like a military upgrade and vice versa. Yes, there may be some similarities but you can't compare the two on an apples to apples basis.

If folks are hesitant to upgrade and want to get more time working in their operation that is OK and good for them taking a methodical approach and wanting to get more time under their belt.

A quick expansion is a huge threat to a company from a safety standpoint and many of the same enthusiasm I heard at Colgan when they were expanding rapidly I am hearing in this thread. That really is great! I don't mean to piss in anyone's Cheerios, but if folks want to spend more time in the right seat to learn, good for them.

Based on your experience with military upgrades?
