Layover food

I forgot to post Anchorage Pel Meni. My favorite go to lunch place. Right next to the Captain Cook.

Oh hell yeah. Looks just like that place in PAJN. Any relation? Is that the same place?
I believe it is the same. It’s hilarious to me, when I first came to juneau no one ever ate at pels until they were completely blasted at 0200. And now it’s like….a thing I guess. Good for them!

haha I haven't been there before midnight, beer may have been involved (with the requisite late evening show the next day of course). Can you imagine if this place went worldwide at college campuses? Reminds me of the time my future wife while in college tried to leave at 2 am fully naked to go get pita pit. I successfully corralled her, and then, well, it wasn't a great story because she fell asleep on our couch

This is probably basic bitch stuff, but anytime I'm overnighting at seatac, Thai Din Fung is my go-to on the grub. This scenario normally involves me waking up at 0400 for a 0500 ish airport showtime, and my favorite food for that type of morning is their Cod dumplings with the black vinegar dipping sauce. The evening prior I'll bounce back and forth around the menu, but I always get the dumplings and chuck them in the fridge for early the next day. If you are willing to wait a little longer, Mama Dough is fantastic. Hand pulled Chinese noodles, and if you want to get real stinky, the lamb broth on is out of this world

On that note, standing by for MIA or IAD recs.....

No way can I eat at 4 or 5 am waking up. I don’t even know my name that early in the morning.

And then the van ride at 445am, chatty Cathy is going at it. And then a “you’re quiet this morning!”

Oh no, it’s not that I’m a quiet person. It’s just 445 in the friggin morning. See how it’s still dark and the sun isn’t up? That’s god’s way of saying this is shut up time.

Din Tai Fung is the best. My longtime GF is from Taiwan and she got me hooked on it. We went to the original location in Taipei and the US stores are surprisingly consistent. Definitely one of the highlights of the SEA layover. If it's a long enough layover I also make sure to stop by Istanbul Cuisine down the street right in front of Bellevue Square Mall and grab a Gozleme. It's the stuff dreams are made of, especially with their mint dipping sauce.

Black Bottle, in SEA, blasted broccoli…y’all can thank me later.

@///AMG , I don’t know where yall stay in MIA, but Over Under is off E Flagler St and had one of my all time fav desserts…sour orange pie. It’s out of this world good.

I'm ashamed to admit I am not familiar with this Istanbul place.....will have to check it out!

Oh man, I'm not normally a desert person, but that has my interest
