I don't mind Anchorage in the winter. But it has been single digits, and our hotel is a fifteen minute walk from a lot of food. When you pack for seventeen day trips, you don't have a lot of room for warm clothes.

It's cool for about the first five minutes and then it's kind of meh.

I'd much rather ride a slow, one car, diesel powered train on some backwoods line through Kyushu than the Tokaido Shinkansen.

And then a lunch of champions picture because that's the point of this thread...

I like both! The Shinkansen/Nozomi is fun for speed, but the slow speciality trains are fun as well.
