Latest Eagle AIP rejected

Perhaps. But you have to remember that there are many audiences for a communication, not just the ones who support the 5 guys who voted against the deal. The ones who support the 4 guys who voted against it are probably nervous as hell, and I'm not sure that reinforcing their fears is a wise move.

Exactly.

Eagle MEC:

Mic-Drop.gif

Come on Joe and those others who liked this post. The Eagle MEC wasn't unanimous in this. They put out a communication that will force management to react a certain way where everyone WASN'T on board with an outcome that is going to lead management into their next step. It sounds like an emotionally charged decision was made by some elected reps that has real consequences for thousands.

I was going to say, when something like this is voted down, a communication should be put out stating that the MEC looks forward to meeting with the company to discuss what will needed to be done to get a deal in place that protects the future of American Eagle Pilots.

You DON'T put out a letter saying you aren't going to talk to the company forever and force the company to shut you down or call your bluff.

@surreal1221, this is why ALPA has communication specialists. To prevent pilots who are emotional from putting out a communication that backs management in a corner were they have no choice but to wreak havoc on the pilot group.

Captain Sprague is simply using the language the company used with us. They told us they were going to shut us down - they have been all along. They told us they wouldn't approach us a third time. He didn't make it up.

...After 4 hours of passionate discussion and debate...

The MEC should NOT have made a decision where passion is involved.

I get that the meeting should be open, but they should have put some time between the open discussion and a vote for the future of thousands. The closeness of the vote proves that time can be your friend with decisions like this.

If you really want to call their bluff, you still don't remind the company of what they are saying in this regard.

ESPECIALLY since the vote was 5-4.

I don't think Seggy is claiming that they did. I believe he's pointing out that communications have consequences. Management will react to what you put out. They are emotional beings just like pilots are. And both are Type A personalities who don't like to be backed into a corner or called out publicly.

Tow that line buddy.

Moreover,I think it's more indicative of the fact that eagle pilots, collectively, are fed up. For 2 years straight they kept us in the dark as to our future. What has two years of constant stress and elevated blood pressure done to our crews? Enough is enough. Things are going to get worse briefly and then it'll be over, win, lose, or draw. I, for one, am ready

@Screaming_Emu remember instead of sitting here on the internet posting pics of someone dropping the mike, I have been in a position to help guide folks to make similar decisions.

Not saying I agree or disagree with the AIP. But for unity within the Eagle Pilot group, it is being horrifically handled. This isn't internet games.

As much as all the details about concessions and contracts confuse me within the airlines, I think it is great that pilots are finally fighting back. Regional airline management has taken for granted the fact that people are willing to fly a jet for poverty wages and now the tables are slowly turning across the board. Good on you Eagle pilots! I wish the best for all of you in the near future and the obstacles to overcome short term in consequence of this rejection.

If that is the case, why was the vote 5-4?

You may be ready, but as a group, a vast (7-2, 8-1, 9-0 vote I would be saying something different) majority isn't ready.

Just as the communications management put out caused consequences; namely, this consequence. If they wanted to negotiate, they wouldn't have said "we're not coming back a third time." I have no doubt management will follow through on this threat - if the new boss anything like the boss, they'll spend millions just to make us look foolish.

Because the Ord captain rep and both mia reps didn't do a good job of representing the desires of their constituents. The Ord for rep was originally in favour but came under tremendous pressure from his people, along with his counterpart. The for rep didn't what was right and didn't fold.

If you really wanted to know exactly what the constituents want, you would put it up for a pilot vote. I know that there was a fairly vocal "vote no" group, but that doesn't mean everyone wanted it.

Here is another thing that I (along with @ATN_Pilot) are going, WTF. When I was MEC Chair at another airline, and a communication was put out like this from the MEC, the MEC Officers, or the MEC Chairman signed their names to it. Seems odd to me (and @ATN_Pilot) that the MEC would make such a big decision and then not bother putting their names to the email.

So you're reacting emotionally? Fair enough. As long as you recognize that your emotional reactions will have real consequences in your life and the lives of everyone else at Eagle.

Quite the opposite. Personally, my position is based on the fact that my peers at compass and sky west (maybe even republic, according to some stuff I've heard) are taking raises and improvements in the face of a shortage of pilots while I'm being told that I should make less and that it's a good thing. With thousands of federally-mandated retirements coming in the near future, it seems a company would be foolish to put 3000 pilots out to pasture. So for me it's numbers. Unfortunately I'm not much of a writer so it's easy to not get my point across effectively sometimes.
