Judge allows class action suit against Delta, Air Tran to proceed

I don't care about bag fees, but what I care about it why it costs me significantly more to fly from ATL to DCA nonstop than it does for someone to fly from CAK to ATL to DCA RT on two of the exact same flights ! I'm using less of your same product and you're charging me more. Also, why don't air lines (spaced out to be directed at one in particular) offer last minute sales? Example: No OT assigned for me next week and I'm thinking of going to SAV, but I'm not going to pay $781 to depart on a Tuesday and come back on a Thursday for less than a 4 hour drive or a <45 minute flight! That's ridiculous for planes that I'm sure aren't at capacity.

The yield management software automatically determines fares based on city pair(s), time of day, date of the year, number of seats already booked, weather, and all sorts of other criteria in order to maximize yield in each flight.

I'd expect at least one checked bag to be included in the ticket price with any reputable airline (I thought I would count Delta as that), the charging for checking bags trick is something I would expect of the low-cost operators like Ryanair. Does this policy apply to all Delta flights (including International), sounds lunatic to me.
Why not include 1 bag in the ticket price, with a money-back offer available for people not checking a bag?

I offer that the software maximizes revenue and not yield.

Distance while related to cost and time, isn't necessarily related to price or demand.

And if you always offer last minute sales, you're just completely decimated your advance ticketing.

If Jared sells his subway sandwiches for $5 for a footlong until 1300 and then at 1300 the price goes down to $1, you're gong to sell a lot of product at a loss.

Don't think Jared's selling subway any more.

"Jared Fogle's Wife Seeks Divorce as Subway Spokesman Faces up to 12½ Years in Prison for Child Sex Charges

Katie Fogle released the statement on the same day that Jared, 37, is expected to plead guilty to charges that he traveled across state lines to have sex with minors as well as possessed and distributed child pornography. "

Subway dropping the price to $1 after 1pm means Jared is a pervert.

That's a good thing.

If that $5 footlong from Subway is actually $4.50 worth of ingredients, labor, rent, depreciation, insurance, and cash reserve, I would fire the CEO.

I'd jump for joy if I saw a $5 footlong from Subway! See what California does to ya? [HASHTAG]#LAXlayovers[/HASHTAG] [HASHTAG]#SFOlayovers[/HASHTAG]

The biggest benefit airlines get from bag fees is that it lessens the actual amount that the gobermint gets its hands on. The air/base fare gets charged out the wazoo worst than cigarette sin tax. But bag fees, along with other ancillary revenues, gets a free pass. So for the airlines it's a win-win situation.

Domestic is hella expensive. Still trying to bring the spouse around to realize that.

They're charging less on the CAK-ATL-DCA flights because all the airlines are competing for you our of CAK. Southwest can take you CAK-MDW-DCA, United can take you CAK-ORD-DCA, Delta can take you CAK-ATL-DCA, American will do it through Charlotte .....you get the picture.

Out of Atlanta your choice's are very limited to go direct and you'll pay a premium for it.

Question is why is @RobertB at CAK? 8)

Also. SWA doesn't do CAK-MDW anymore go figure.
I'm in Atlanta, but was wondering why the hidden city fare to CAK was cheaper on the way home from DCA than to stop in ATL. Hell, it is cheaper for me to fly back home from DCA to ATL via DCA-ATL-CAK then buy a one way ticket from CAK-ATL.
