JC Cyclists.

Anyone have suggestions for a heart rate monitor? I'm using the mapmyride app and would love to start tracking that along with my splits etc. I've found some Polar and Wahoo for around 60 dollars but figured I'd get some feedback here.

Haven't used a HRM for years, but my Polar monitors worked well years ago. Doubt you can go wrong with any of the big brands nowadays.

I don't use a heart rate monitor. I just go out and put the miles in on my bike.

Eddy Merckx didn't have a heart rate monitor and he won The Tour 5 times.

Pic borrowed from velonews.com, awesome to see the Jensie break the hour record today!

Does anyone use an indoor trainer? Any recommendations?

See above post ;) Rode rollers & trainers for too many years. No bueno. Unless you are racing at high levels (and winning) f-that noise. Get some fenders and/or fat tires!

So all winter here in Marin this was happening:

I didn't want to post to much about our "winter" because I didn't want to be a dick

Kind of cool signage that actually makes sense.

Been riding on the road for awhile now. Decided I would give this a shot. Picked it up at my local shop on clearance. $299, Anybody with tips and recommendations for mountain biking, I'm all ears. This will keep make good use of my pass at the White Water center here in CLT.

299$$!!

Damn that is a great deal. If you are going riding on trails a lot you will need at least a spare tube and pump tire irons. And the know how to change a flat. Put it in a hydration pack. I got my hydration pack for 35$ on amazon. I threw the chinese water bladder away and kept my made in the USA one.

As far as riding goes. Have fun. Don't go too big right away. Usually when fools be breaking themselves off they get over their head.

Pro tip: the guy having the most fun wins :)

Yeah I went in to get a new tube for my road bike and saw it. Instantly sold! I'm on a trip now, but pick it up Wed! I have a Camelbac so figure I would wear it and store stuff in the bag portion. More and more trails keep popping up here in Charlotte, so I am looking forward to this new adventure. And I hear its a killer workout.

I like your tip. I try to incorporate that into everything I do. You have to.

Just don't throw any crazy big and metal tools into your pack. Some have been injured by a tool in a pack. One rider was paralyzed by his shock pump :(

I guess it's time for me to join the party. I've been saving up for this beauty for years, finally got it a couple weeks ago. Still testing out different saddles and sent it in to the shop today to get a few tweaks made, so she's not quite finished yet, but man, I'm already in love!

4200+ feet, not bad for an early season afternoon ride. Although I was actually a little sad to see my top speed was only 41 mph. I was thinking I'd hit at least 45 or even 50. I was trying to outrun a school bus
