In-house Delta Job Fair, October 20/21 2017

Because it's taken over a dozen different threads and it's annoying as hell. It wasn't enough for him to stay in the lav, he started bringing it to other forums and threads. Several members have asked him to stop, but he doesn't. He's just a lonely troll with too much time on his tiny hands. Look at all of his posts and try to find more than three that aren't cut and paste. It's all he really ever does. This thread is meant to have value for those looking at DAL, trying to get real/helpful info and managing their careers. That's what is bothersome.
The ignore feature will lead to a much less stressful life.

No, no, nobody is talking about degrees and job requirements, @Nark, @Derg, etc. That conversation has been had multiple times and is not being reopened here. I commented that I don't have a degree and thus won't be going to a major as context as to why I was an objective third party. That was it. Move along, please. Or if you want to reopen the discussion, do it substantively.

I accepted my regional lifer status when I opted to come to a regional without a degree.

Why don't you jump ship to an AA regional with a flow? If it doesn't pan out you're still a regional lifer and if it does you made it to a major without having to get a degree.

I'm not looking for a way to game the system—I don't want to be somewhere that I'm not wanted. I also don't trust flow agreements, and I don't trust most wholly-owneds, especially after how AAG treated Envoy, what Delta did to Comair, and how much Alaska defecates on Horizon.

More importantly, I enjoy SkyWest and feel that I'm well-treated here. I love pretty much every single captain I fly with, and even though I'm transgender, I get a lot of support. I love the airplane I'm on, I feel they're very well-maintained, and the training department relatively solid. I'm based where I live, bid ~35%, and my company has many other bases in places I'd love to live for my equipment type.

If I jump ship, it will likely to be back to an industry where I get to actually -fly- again. Or perhaps a freight operator of some sort, if I can find one that'll get past "OMG you're a WHAT?"

But it's not a bad idea... it's just probably not for me, for reasons I have difficulty articulating. I didn't grow up dreaming of being an airline pilot, you see; when I was younger, I dreamed of being a bomber pilot.

As for the growing up part, well...I still haven't done that! ^~^

Do whatever makes you happy. Money isn't everything and if you ever do get to mainline it is the same job staring at clouds and sitting in a seat for six hours - eight hours per day. I too flew in Alaska, I have been tempted to quit the regionals and go back north so many times, so I understand your yearning for real, computer-unmediated flying!

out of curiosity how come these airlines don't open up registration for say an hour then have a random lottery for the allotted slots? Seems like it would be easier and more fair for everyone involved.

Today's registration has the new facebook comments.......... Self-destruction begins again for round 2.

I will admit its a bit of a frustrating process, but not worth imploding over. I still think it wold make more sense to do a lottery to remove the aspect of who has the quickest internet etc. Oh well, maybe someday.

Easier, yea I could see that, but nothing is going to make most of the people who don't get a spot think it is fair. I am sure Delta would love to meet everyone, but that just isn't possible.
Keep in mind I would give up body parts to work for Delta and I didn't get a spot, and I am OK with the system they are using.

I think I only got lucky because people went over to the Facebook page to complain when the link didn't appear at 12:30.

Maybe Delta purposely posted it a minute or two late to weed out the type of people who immediately start complaining on Facebook?

One of the most invaluable tools for the Delta recruitment folks throughout this whole process is a list of applicants that have terrible attitudes and even worse judgement. The people that comment negatively on those posts have lost touch with reality and they have probably lost the chance to fly a Delta jet as a result of posting on Facebook. Unreal!

Would've been badass to fly an FB-111A Aardvark or B-58 Hustler in the days of SAC and the Cold War.

Of course, if you win the lottery tomorrow, I expect to see an A-26 Invader as a new acquisition. :)

You remembered my favorite airplane! ^~^ I'm quite flattered, actually.
