This... Not sure if the interview is any different, but it is definitely a possibility now to get hired without the written.They're taking people without the ATP written now. They will send you to a contractor for the CTP course.

There was a guy in my interview class in February who was hired without the ATP written and was going to be sent to the CTP course.
Apparently Alaska plans to reduce the Q400 fleet by 20 airplanes in the next 5 years.
In order to be able to bid on replacement aircraft which would be E-jets... Horizon's costs need to come down by 28%. No, I didn't forget a decimal.

Just out of curiosity, who in our union has sided with the company that we need to cut costs in order to help out the airline? I am not at all saying that this isn't true, I just haven't heard this before. PM me if you need to.You didn't miss a decimal but you did misread the email. It says we need to cut 28% of the differential between us and Skywest, not total cost. That would be impossible.
Still, I think the pilots should say NO to any concessions whatsoever. I'm very disappointed that I've heard people involved with the union who seem to agree with the company that we need to cut costs in order to help out the airline. It simply doesn't make sense when regionals are fighting over pilots.

Last I checked everyone at an airline is a part of the team and is needed to operate it.Here's an excerpt from a message I just sent to our union leadership:
I have been working at Horizon for nearly XX years. During this time, I've been exposed to constant harassment from management implying that we are somehow overpaid or under-worked. Our benefits and 401(k) contributions have been whittled away, while our "pay raises" (if you want to call them that) can only be seen using a powerful microscope. What do you call a pay increase that doesn't cover the cost of living? It's called a "pay cut"!
Now, our management is coming back for another bite at the apple. So, we're being asked to make pay concessions and changes to our work rules so that that the company can MAYBE buy jets? Really?
In the last couple of months, I've seen the Delta pilots vote DOWN a TA, the Skywest pilots vote DOWN a TA, and the Republic pilots vote DOWN a TA. Not to mention, the Southwest flight attendants that just voted DOWN a TA. This tells me that the front-line employees (the people that do all the actual work) are tired of getting the crumbs off the corporate table while companies rake in a record amount of money. Our current CBA is more than adequate for the acquisition of new flying.
I encourage our union leadership to stand strong and not give in to management pressure. I suspect that the Air Group leadership is just jacking us around. If we give them what they want, they'll just buy some more jets for Skywest.
