I bought an Alienware laptop when I upgraded because I was tired of spending 19 hours in Salina, KS and Cape Girardeau so not only is my gaming up but also my slam clicking.

If it's a cool overnight I'll do stuff or a cool crew. Sometimes though 10 hour duty days I just want alone time or to do my own thing. The hardest part is new crewmembers seem to take it so personally...

Maybe I am so use to it because I was in a slam click base as an FO

BTW if anyone plays FIFA, Destiny 2 or the new COD hit me up

I was usually game for a bite to eat together if everyone seemed pretty chill.

I did wind up with the whole crew at a nightclub in Monterey MX trying to make sure our very drunk FAs made it safely back to the motel. That wasn't my idea of a fun time, "no mas, por favor".

There is a reasonable level of caution that I as a married (at the time) man would use when socializing with female coworkers. Meet for dinner at the hotel bar, sure. Go out partying and drinking one on one, no thanks. I'm sure nothing would happen, but I don't want to explain awkward photos of me on FB to my wife.

There were some guys on the widebodies that would invite the ENTIRE crew out... like 15-plus.

I got suckered into that a few times and then he basically volunteer he pilots up for “we’ll get all the wine” and between ten different payment methods, most forgetting about tax and tip my 12 Euro Salade Lyonnaise would become about 80 Euro.

”HERE, JUST TAKE IT (I’ll call the residual a ‘stupid tax’ for falling for this AGAIN)”
Silly rabbit! If invite everyone out, I’m paying for it all. It helps that the most people I’ll ever have to pay for is 4 except when I had to work New Years last year.

I was suckered into it in Nashville and ended up with a $70 bar tab for four drinks. The FAs ordered specialty cocktails. I don’t care if people think I’m cheap, I don’t make enough to buy for everyone.

Eh. My operative phrase is "You do you, man. Don't let me bust your hustle."

Such a tease.... STORY TIME!!

There's another similar story he's not telling of a former VA then AS FO who was let go because he was not-quite-stalking-but-being-creepy with FAs.

This individual now flies for an ACMI and was on my jumpseat last year.

"Yeah, us Virgin guys were just getting so shafted with the Alaska merger, I wasn't going to take it. That's why I fly for World now."

If you ever doubt that JC really is a different kind of pilot forum, take a look at this example from the same subject thread over at APC:

That screed made FSTDT.

Well he could be much worse off, apparently someone actually voluntarily left Alaska to be a street captain at a regional because of the merger.

That’s it? 70 bucks is less then my bar tab generally. We did dinner at Nobu as a crew the other night. 457 after tip [emoji1787]

Nope.

A) Domestically rarely share layover hotels anyway so it’s a wash.

B) Domestically, our FAs are so socially inept, most FAs will ride the hotel van with you, go through security with you, go to the gate with you and literally not say a word until you actually get on the aircraft. I’m not even joking.

C) Internationally most FAs were born before WW2 broke out so there really isn’t anything exciting there. Occasionally the crew will get together and usually the FAs will try to stiff the pilots with a large portion of the bill. Always pay separately.

Honestly, I don’t like to hang out with most pilots either and like to do my own thing so there’s that too.

Can we swap FAs? Most of ours don’t seem to shut up. They are especially loud on the 5am van while I’m still blankly staring out the van window with my hot tea.
