Furlough Estimates

If the State forces someone to stay home and not work, and thus, not earn a paycheck.....by State orders; should those same people have to pay any local/State/Federal taxes for the time when they weren’t allowed to earn an income from their job?

Seriously?

You aren't charged tax on income you don't earn.

But...

But...

... My Riiiiiiiights!!!

... I don't even know what those are.

... I missed all my high school classes.
... I never went to college.
... I hate the free press, and I keep mouthing off about how much I hate it even though I never read a newspaper.

But... But...

... My Riiiiiights!!!

Even the little, weird, hybrid-thing animal in the animal-lover camp in the South Park episode knew it was time for someone to kill him...

How about sales/property tax?

That’s more what I’m talking about. Sure, income tax isn’t being charged. However other taxes are being charged to these same people who are being restricted by the very same tax-levying entity, from earning their income.

You'd have to refund the state income tax after the fact, and you'd have to show receipts for anything you bought. But sure.

Property tax? Depends on how the state collects them.

I pay about 0.4%. That’s not a typo. Insurance costs more than tax.

Lemme go look.

Mine works out to 0.457% here in AZ for property and an “effective” state income tax of 1.8% in the highest AZ bracket. No city, county, municipality or school tax here.
