Furlough Estimates

It's a show of force. Basically sends a message saying "we're here, we're not going away, and we're prepared to defend ourselves if you get out of line." It strikes me as similar to a freedom of navigation exercise.

I, for one, am happy to see it. There are certain lawmakers out there who are not acting in good faith.
"show of force" lol, only in the mind of somebody that feels the need to show off their sweet PSA AR kit. Trotting out firearms does nothing but dilute and distract from their message. They'd be far more effective leaving their weapons at home, they just look silly playing dress up. What, exactly, are they expecting? A running gun battle with cops who are writing citations for parking illegally? They look like a bunch of morons, and I say that as a staunch 2A supporter.

Next time I buy a car I’m going to bring a gun. Otherwise they won’t know I mean business!

Yes, you’re right of course. When the colonists were unhappy, they just calmly explained their position and picketed rather than doing something intimidating like throwing tea overboard.
Makes complete sense. Side with what is likely an uneducated mob and throw reason out the door . Seems like a great plan when trying to make the best decision possible.

The revolution is a very different beast. Nice try at using a red herring to make a point.

It’s already happened, with no mass bloodbath: The Black Panthers group marched into the inside of the California State Capitol in Sacramento decades ago, armed to the teeth with rifles, shotguns, and pistols (prior to California rigid gun control laws) and staged a protest on the Senate floor. No one was shot on sight. They also had several protests in other states where they were legally openly-armed and brandishing open-carry weapons. Again, no violence ensued, from either them or the police.

Long time ago indeed, and gun laws in many of these areas have become far more restrictive; but for areas where protesters are complying with legal open carry (areas that have that), then chances of anyone being “shot on sight” by police, are pretty nonexistent.

While the Black Panthers were successful thanks to armed protests, the NRA and Reagan successfully pushed for Gun Control because it's racist.

Minority groups were heavily represented at the Gun Rights march in Virginia, although the guy with the .50 seems to be the protester who's picture made the news.

Oh two black people reflect “heavy” representation? :) Ha! Oh that’s very bougie!

That’s as hilariously ridiculous than when a suburbanite writes a yelp review about Panda Express and extolling its authenticity because a couple in the corner were ”....speaking Chinese“ (sic).

I saw a female at a Rush concert in Vegas a few years ago but I wouldn’t feel comfortable, as an educated person, declaring that “blacks and women LOVE RUSH!”.

No need to run off to ConfirmationBias dot com to find evidentiary material for how culturally diverse MealTeam Six is because it isn’t.

Oh dear god, I’ve seen it all. Time for PS4.

You can google up as many images as you'd like.. I'd find a group picture, but it's not like there was a special 'African American' area they were only allowed to be in. Because, you know, freedom.

It’s within your right to disapprove and make fun of the armed protesters. But at the moment any unconstitutional legislation is enforced to restrict said protests I would expect you to stand up and fight for the infringed rights of the armed protesters. Likewise for the armed folk to stand up for any unreasonable restrictions applied to any other group, no matter how much they do not agree. That’s what matters in the end.

Contrast with how violent the typical Antifa protest is. Obviously, they are mostly too young, or have too many felony convictions to legally own firearms.

Sure, but it hasn't. These people are protesting with firearms because they CAN, disregarding the very obvious fact that they look like idiots for doing so.

What the question ultimately comes down to, as some have alluded to here, is the age-old question of just because you can do X, is doing X the best course of action in a given instance? Assuming open carry being legal in these places, is openly carrying long arms going to reasonably enhance, or otherwise detract, from the message you are trying to send? Will it be a distraction that many people in the intended audience will focus on, rather than focus on the message you’re trying to get across? A balanced assessment of the pros and cons of this question, should answer the ultimate question of just because I legally can do X, should I do X, in the specific case I’m attempting to assess?

milleR Yeah but that’s a protected activity; why waste your breath/finger-strokes to complain about it? I think they’re knuckleheads too but there’s nothing that you, I, or the next person can realistically do about it.
