Furlough Estimates

I wonder what a protestor’s rationale is for carrying a weapon to protest at the capitol for something that doesn’t even involve the 2nd amendment.

Do they feel it makes them look or feel like tough guys? Is it some weird Cosplay I’m unaware of? Overcompensating for something? Got to compare who has a bigger one to your fellow protestors?

Somehow I think “self-defense” is way way way down on the list of reasons these folk decided to show off their toys.

United displacement bid was scary. Not looking forward to ours. Hope I can find a job. Anyone have advice for entry level jobs that has career progression opportunities? Will probably be impossible to fly an airplane again until I get my call back so I'm exploring a normal 7-5 job opportunities...

Look at the gun I bought "show and tell day".

If your in public displaying a weapon it sure as hell is my business to understand your motive behind it.

*you’re

Again, no it is not your business. If you don’t like it then stay inside. Or, better yet, carry a gun as well.

It depends.

If this is occurring in a place where open carry is legal, then one can carry all they like and they have no need to justify their action, even if people are concerned over it.

If this is occurring in a place where open carry is not legal, most likely other members of the public will get concerned and want to know what is up or what is going on.

I wouldn't take UAL's displacement bid so hard. They're crazy heavy on wide bodies and international flying, and have a minuscule amount of mando retirements in the next 24-36 months compared to your shop. Furlough probably still happens because they need to save cash now (future growth be damned, legitimate if insolvency is a real threat), but if pax numbers get back above 1.5 million-ish in 18-24 months and 1800 pilots retire by the end of 2022, you won't be off property for very long.

Now where is @Yakob to tell us pax number will never be above 1.5 million in the rest of remaining human history?

Yeah, I'm not trying to be the Yakob pessimistic here by any means. Just trying to be a bit realistic because I'm 80ish from the bottom at a legacy that still does a lot of international too. I am trying to remain positive, just lot of bad writing on the wall it feels like.

This will be the mother of all downturns I guess. Starting to think I shouldn’t have turned down that opportunity to be a cop back in 2017...

Where are you getting 4200 from?

You’re right, that was math from the displacements and not solidified furloughs. That will be quickly edited to not spread inaccurate information. My apologies, I know it’s not a good time for that stuff. Last thing I want to do is cause unnecessary stress to people that are at the airlines, that wasn’t the intent. I just seen the displacement numbers from a few different sources and it was shocking

This is like Animal Farm. Some will be more fine than others.

It appears United is the first one to blink (of the mainline/legacies)
UAL and DAL appear to be taking a "that's gonna hurt approach" and prep by planning to downsize and batten down.
AA is betting on the worst of it being over sooner. If not press the panic button.
NK, correct me if I'm wrong, is sort of like AA, but with a more defined (correlation: easier achievable) downsizing plan if things go sideways.
SWA is like a prepper that has a decent pile of supplies and is trying to chose between "Zombie" and "Nukes" response plan.

Spitballing...
