Ferry Flights

Hey everyone! I was told that a good way to build some time quickly is to fly a couple of ferry flights. I know nothing of this though. Can anyone give me any insight on how to getting involved with doing a couple? Or even a contact to gain some information. I'm currently flying Caravans out of MEM and am in CASS. Let me know guys. Thanks!

I cant speak to CASS specifically, but I know many airlines have company policies against using your non-rev privileges for commercial means.

To the OP. Using CASS for this type of thing is a no-no. There are old threads buried in here that talk about CASS and ferry flights and I recall that there is (was?) a JC member that runs a ferry flight company. The search tool is your friend.
Maybe another member here remembers the individual JCer the has the ferry company.

You're thinking of Ben Zwebner, but it doesn't look like his account is active here anymore.

Reminds me of this website http://www.global-air.com/ and more specifically this line " Low-time and no airline privileges? We don't mean to offend, but our clients want an experienced pilot flying their airplane, and don't want to buy airline tickets, when pilots with passes are available." I bet airline pilots who do this kind of work cry about the state of the industry all day long and then completely abuse their privileges, take seats away from pilots trying to commute to work, and are taking away opportunities from less experienced pilots.

We work for the same company, sir. If you ruin CASS, the Alaska pilot group will hunt you down, you have my personal guarantee. ^.~

I thought you guys were flying your butts off down there... Is it a specific type of time you need...?

Yeah, how about "no, okay?"

The use of company nonrevenue travel - jumpseat or otherwise - for personal business is (almost universally) prohibited.

American Airlines has software that will flag someone who is always doing one-way nonrevving. THey'll call the individual and start asking questions.

I think that's a little silly myself, as the journeys I take occasionally involve some rather screwed, disjoint routings.

But, yeah. Don't do it.

Yeah, I'm just trying to think of different ways to get some night time so that I can upgrade. I need about 48 more hours. That and due to the Captain shortage all FO schedules have been cut pretty good down here.

Thanks for the heads up everyone. Reading all that you're saying def points toward the "no go" decision.
One of the responses mentioned talking to a broker who includes the ferry pilots travel expenses into the purchase price, or a company that specializes in ferrying airplanes. I see no problem with ferrying an airplane as long as you're getting paid a fair rate and not abusing CASS privileges. But I'm just a dirty mechanic.

Yeah I appreciate the tip! I'm def not trying to ferry for money. I think that's what a lot of guys are getting out of that post, should have been a little more clear. I'm just looking for ways to build night time to hit 135 mins.

I'm tired and don't feel like searching right now, but I seem to recall that @Acrofox was looking to do the same thing. If so, you two should hook up.
Good luck with building time.
