It can be that quick, but its not something I'd bet my life on. Especially in a hard to staff facility. SFO might also be a pipe dream just yet because busy terminal facilities (centers have the training ability TRACONs and towers don't) are capped on new hires from time to time. Either way its bad etiquette to announce you can't wait to leave. Queeno, ATCretired2003 or however else I'm mangling their usernames and more can tell you what its like at the end of the career path. These guys retired in their 50's. @

There is something to be said for making the sacrifice of location at an early age so you can screw off and retire while you can still self locomote.
