Expect more holding for EWR

Related to all of this, I’ve been told that the Waterloo, IA TRACON got merged into the Des Moines, IA TRACON earlier this year.

With only a single fiber line (not two, redundancy was the spec) for the radar feed to DSM.

Brilliant. At least it’s flat out there, I guess.

Eh that’s an entirely different situation. Through Fusion, DSM is getting feeds through multiple different radars. If one goes out it doesn’t really affect anything. The problem with EWR/PHL was that all the radar feeds still went to N90, and then all that data was transmitted to PHL over a single line. So even though we lost everything here in PHL, it still worked fine at N90.

Ahhh, okay. I’m not nearly as familiar with the actual machinery as I should be (my desire to know more has intensified), but I thought I’d pass it along.

Thanks for the insight. Is “Fusion” the project or the product?
