Expect more holding for EWR

When departing 4’s you turn to a 055 (used to be 060) to parellel the TEB 6 final which is only 3.5 miles to the east. Idk why they don’t make it an RNAV departure because when the winds are strong from the east not uncommon for that 055 to look more like a 040 and it’s an almost instant deal with the TEB final.
Y’all don’t believe in RNAV anything on the east coast. Shoot the STARS don’t even have coded altitudes

The FAA should publish more RNAV SIDs generally.

Too many crossing paths with guys climbing/descending or a bunch of others all trying to get to the same departure fix. Same reason we don’t have STARS to the final, sometimes ya just gotta vector. It’s funny training people who come from busy west coast facilities cause they’re used to the volume (or even more) but not having to turn/climb/descend someone every 5 miles or risk a deal or airspace bust. Same when our guys go out west. My friend transferred to Denver approach and he started giving vectors and his trainer was like “uh we don’t do that here.”

“I wish we had more RNAV”
“Yeah, you should have more RNAV”
“But here’s why we can’t have more RNAV!”
😛

Well, it should be RNAV til the turn westbound like the WENTZ off TEB. I thought you meant RNAV SID up to the flight levels
cmon man, you can’t seriously tell me that the FQM3 and the LENDY8 are the best possible ways we can come up with to bring airplanes into the NYC airspace now that we have RNAV and descend via.

Idk what either of those are lol.
The main STARs for feeding airplanes to EWR and JFK, at least the direction we come from. Non RNAV, and you have to hand jam the altitudes every time. Great that I have to keep a stupidly useless piece of trivia (lowest usable flight level [it goes opposite the altimeter, if the altimeter is low it’s 190 if it’s high it’s 180 {I do not want to know this}]) in my aging brain just for this one dumb STAR.

Ok I know the Williamsport. Never heard it called the FQM. Yeah we usually get radios with you around PENNS and you enter my airspace at SWEET. And the only jfk arrivals I work are slow guys at 5000 coming over SBJ so not familiar with the jfk stuff.

was just in your neck of the woods the other week, taking a bird from CDW to FRG, down the route 280, Verrazano, and South Shore routes. All tower to tower, otherwise would’ve tried to find you on TRACON.

Should have called me anyway like @derg did randomly landing LGA lol. If I was still on LI I’d have loved to grab a beer with you after got to FRG.

Yeah, that’s the code for it in the box so it’s what we always see.

Do you do any early arrivals? The LAX-EWR is my jam. Lands about 5-6am depending on schedule. I have 3 of these trips this month.

All I know is that early in the morning, all we get altitude wise is PENNS at 9,000.

Despite the chart saying expect a higher altitude at SWEET between the hours of 11pm-7am.
