Eagle ALPA Corruption

T
Where do you think Eagle's "money" comes from? I can tell you that it isn't from the Eagle pilot group.
That's bull too. National should be there to give guidance, oversight, and even too provide emergency support (strike, negotiations, etc). They should not be subsidizing our day to day operation.

You do realize that most MECs couldn't function without subsidies, right? That's why I laugh whenever some regional pilot group talks of forming an independent union. The dues rate would have to be astronomical to make it work.

I really do not know how the unions work in the background and I will defer any discussion about union business rules to other people. I do understand waste and abuse and this is what the topic of the thread is about. If I expensed and submitted for reimbursement even a fraction of what was submitted by these people, I would expect to be fired, and rightfully so.

Or not........just saying.

This thread is like reading religious/political posts on facebook. A bunch of people whining that really don't know how the world/system/whatever works and crying that everything is outrageous because it doesn't fit their own personal belief system. I'm not sure if it's more laughable or sickening. Yet still, like a train wreck, I can't stop reading.... Carry on.

Then I think we need to go to paying everyone the CONUS per diem rate and not allow expenses. Unfortunately with that comes larger bills. It has been argued to death and if the expenses are what is eating you inside then I think you need to see all the data. If the drinking is what is killing you inside then you need to write your elected rep and have the policy manual changed.

Expensed a double Whataburger with cheese, fries and a chocolate malt. Additionally I expensed the apple pie. Remember when McDonalds had the pies and they were FRIED instead of baked like that weak ass way they do it now? Whataburger still fries theirs. I expensed this and will expense more. Also, Jet's pizza has opened a place near me and I ate them Saturday. It was tasty for a chain pizza and everyone I had to deal with was articulate and clean. The restaurant was clean when I picked it up. Very pleasant experience.

So it is acceptable to order multiple drinks and expensive meals with no limit and then go down to the liquor store for top offs throughout the day? Got it!
Funny how I'm on a trip right now that is being expensed by someone else. I guess he should expect a $500 charge from the hotel bar tonight...

In fact, there is a limit. Questions get raised whenever the meal costs more than $75 per person. If it's a special occasion, then no big deal. If it's a regular occurrence, then it is a big deal, CFOBs get appointed, and expenses stop getting approved. I seriously doubt that it's a regular occurrence for the EGL MEC, simply because they don't have that big of a budget, and the Council hasn't been having to send them OCF loans. In other words, they don't have enough money at their disposal for this to be a regular occurrence.

I agree with all that. So you are saying that certain people are cherry picking expense reports to paint a picture of excess and abuse?

I prefer the Palm or the Capital Grille. Even Smith & Wollensky is usually better.

Ed, I assume you will be there for the pre-NJC-$100-Palm-lunch again?

Mmm.... steak.

I'm usually a one-armed wallpaper-hanger the afternoon before the event tho.

You airline guys are just lucky that you have a per diem, and aren't fighting a pencil pusher over the necessity of the $2 coffee you had in the morning, or why you couldn't park at a non-24-hour garage at the airport to save $4.
