DL/AA how will they contact for interview

So far, 13 people at Eagle, 12 dispatchers and 1 scheduler, have either been offered the job at American or have been told American wants to hire you, myself included. They send an HR email to welcome you to AA, then they set up fingerprinting and background checks before doing the drug test and physical. The official job offer comes after all the background checks are done.

First class of 11 is set for mid October with all internals with seven from Eagle. A slight paperwork snag is slowing down finalizing a date for the first class. Second class in December with have half of the 12 from Eagle and half external.

Dispatch experience levels of those hired from Eagle so far range from no dispatch experience (crew scheduler) to around 20 years. Its been a broad range of ages hired. The two youngest hired are aged 24 and 26. Two oldest around age 55.

AA has taken a total of 4 line holding equipment coordinators from Eagle and 3 relief equipment coordinators. Another has coordinating experience at another carrier.

No word yet on when externals will be told. 48 externals interviewed for 6 spots in December class. I am not sure how many people both external/internal are being put in hiring pools for future classes next year. There is supposed to be a January class but of unknown size.

If you don't live in near one of AA hubs you will likely need to fly to DFW, JFK, ORD, MIA to get your fingerprinting and drug test/physical. Travel offered on stand by basis. Each one will likely require separate trips.

Thanks Flagship for the update.

Last Thursday was the last day for testing for Delta. Next Class will begin 18 November. 13 spots available. Also, there will be a class 1st quarter 2014 as well.

Well....I haven't heard anything yet...not sure if it's good or bad based on what flagship has said.
My sentiments exactly. If they're only taking six externals for the December class then statistically speaking the odds are not good... especially if what sitdown said is true.

6 is likely the most they will take externally in December class. It will likely be only around 4 for the December class. January class unknown right now.

AA will likely hire a lot next year and Eagle will only be able to send so many. AA has a long training process due to off the street people taking a while to learn Sabre. Eagle hires get signed off quicker than off the street due to the Sabre experience. AA has made exceptions to the 1 year policy in current position recently and with 16 mainly young dispatchers getting hired to replace me and others going upstairs, many of them could be flowing upstairs as well.

Sabre is not that difficult to learn. I use DECs at my current job, and it didn't take me long to learn at all.

I agree and I have asked people why it takes so long to learn DECS at AA and I haven't really gotten a firm answer as to why.

One issue is that the AA training process is not very structured. After about a month of OJT, you don't have any scheduled trainers and you find your own OJT trainers. There is also no real pressure to get signed off in a short time frame so many that are new to Sabre wait longer to get signed off even if they might be able to get signed off sooner.

One getting signed off domestically, you have more time in a classroom for international training and then OJT for a few months doing whatever international qualification you get.

Not to drift to far from the DL/AA arena, but on the CO side - seems another class is going to be needed. The scope I heard was that they need to open another 4-6 desks. I'm pretty sure Sabre FPM (F-WZ) has a lot to do with it. Not sure if those will be 16 or 24 hour ones so that could be anywhere from 10 to 20 people. Again this is only stuff I have heard so take it for what its worth.

That's good news. AA just sent me the thanks but no thanks email....I am disappointed but I will try to network and see what options I have in the future.

My contacts at UAL tell me the exact same thing. Possible November class date. 10-20 new hires is consistent with what I have heard. I am not sure how many internals there may be out of that number. I know UAL always has people in dispatch support roles that try to make the move to dispatch.

I was going to ask if anyone heard of UAL hiring, there was talk of a class this summer that never happened. Thanks for the info.

November Class date? They don't have much time to hire if that's true.

Yeah November isn't going to happen. I have not heard of the UA side wanting to hire, it should be the CO side.

A friend of mine got the email from Delta last Friday. Was finally able to get in touch with them after multiple calls and emails, and was offered a December interview date. Guess they are either that backed up or are really planning ahead.

Yes it is the L-CAL side that is hiring. Reason is that they are moving to the L-UAL dispatch system which increases workload and requires more desks.

November is just what my sources at UAL have told me. Even to them it seemed pretty quick.

There has been talk here of a Jan & Feb class. I guess that's what Dec interviews are for. There will be net fleet growth next year, and hopefully some of these old folks will finally retire!

i interviewed on the thurs of last month im an external..still no word yet we were told middle of this month we should know..as far as the interview went, it went like what was previously stated. Thanks for all the info from here
