Direct Entry at US majors

@B737FLY as I have already said. You don't meet the minimum requirements to be a DEC even at a regional at the moment so you need to wrap your head around the fact that if you want to fly in the US you are going to have to be a lowly FO again until you get 1,000 hours here in the right seat. End of story. BTW your money requirement isn't that hard to do at a major as an FO. You're not rollin in the dough quite as good as you think you are. Especially as a 737 Captain.

As to the lol at 4k hours, I’ve seen guys from my airline go direct entry on 787 at Etihad at around 4k hours, so to me it doesn’t seem like such a far fetched idea, hence my asking about it. I just don’t want to move to Asia or the Middle East and am starting to see if I can come home, in comfortable conditions.

Welcome to America where there hasn’t been a fatal airline accident in nearly a decade. There’s a reason for that...

Oh I know I am below the industry average. Don’t know why you interpret what I said as me showing off or something. Not the case at all.

Agreed. Like the mentality that someone with only 4,000 hours deserves a direct entry left seat at Delta or United.

Never said I deserve it. But I do feel I deserve a chance to compete for it. Seniority does not necessarily equal skill.

Actually, he did say that he’d be happy to sit right seat at a major/legacy. There is a staggering amount of miscommunication going on in this thread!

Direct entry captain at a major? About zero percent.

If you had prior 121 with a CRJ or Embraer type — maybe for a regional.

My friend who is a recruiter had spoken to a lot of Emirates and Qatar Airways widebody Airbus captains, and the ones that were hired are copilots with zero consideration for their previous captain experience.

If @scooter2525, with part 121 A320 time expected to be hired as a SouthernJets captain off the bat, I'd tell him to take a few aspirin and call me in the morning. :) Not acetaminophen because that's bad when you've been drinking.
I wouldn't expect but would accept! :):)

Pay is significantly higher in the US, but is in part (and only in part) made up for by the significantly better employment benefits in Europe.
