Delta Uniform Issues!

If the Man wants me to wear only approved lanyards (an ALPA one is actually approved by court order here if memory serves, but that's another story), then I wear approved lanyards.

What's the problem again?

But it is a uniform protest to the man....

Seriously? This is what we are doing now? Parenting ADULTS who are already arguably the most professional pilot group out there? In my 9yrs in the airlines, both with my company and observations of other companies, I have never seen an inappropriate lanyard. Some might be slightly colorful but none have been out of bounds. I could understand if you are promoting violence, racial or bigoted issues, and that would be covered under the professionalism at work section, but not anything I've ever seen. It is generally sports teams, states, or hobbies like diving or motorcycles. What on earth could have happened that they want to change a policy for 12,000 pilots?!?
you mean you haven't seen the compass special "thug life" lanyard?

But it's got the Wookiee's brown, shiny coat all aflutter! :)

Just curious, is it the orange lanyards came out before the uniform revision allowing only black/red/blue/white lanyards? Is this color thing a new revision, or just restating/reminding what the current authorized lanyard colors are?

Have you always worn a company approved lanyard?

I know USAir went through a lanyard program that went with the whole east/west saga. Now, only company issued lanyards are approved.

Didn't seem that way down in that small Texas town this past week. The majority of the LAA crews around the "Flight AAcademy" were wearing anything but the company issued lanyard.

That came out very recently I believe. I wonder if company is looking the other way? Anyways, I think its hideous and wont be wearing it.

I was told of the lanyard "policy" when I came through indoc. And I say "policy" because there is nothing under Uniform Standards of the FM that says anything about only wearing company issued lanyards.

As far as the company looking the other way, look no further than the expensive ties that come out of a certain base. :)

Perhaps we can now with APA, but when the USAPA east/west thing was going on they put a stop to it. West had Cactus Pilot backers and east had yellow lanyards I believe. But from what ive seen, its nearly 100% compliance.
