That may be true... Yet, on the bright side, you'll have the motivation to seek out those sunsets and the ability to appreciate them.

And, unlike my bartender/server at a rural-state Red Robin the other evening, you'll know in which cardinal directions to look for sunrise and sunset, and from that knowledge, be able to extrapolate a general sense of north and south. (Seriously, try that game some day. I've noted that a shockingly high percentage of youngsters are so disconnected from nature as to be rendered unaware of which direction to look for sunrise. It's disturbing.)

I showed a TSA agent my passport once. He said it didn’t look like me. I said, well who the hell does it look like? He said “Walter White” Can I go now? Sure.
That was when I had wire rimmed glasses, a goatee and a scowl on my passport photo.

Quite right. While the fines/penalities for corporations should be much higher, I think of it as speeding ticket for companies... a kind of fee for doing what you want despite its illegality, to wit: going faster than you ought, or looser than you ought.

You’ve worked with tech people most of your career. Surely you realize that “work work work” is not limited to just aviation.

Medical folks are just as bad.

Embrace the nerdiness. Try to out-nerd the other guy. Tell some funny flying stories. Don’t worry about it. Outside a couple people on the Internet, nobody cares.
 
Don’t get me wrong, I love flying, but I’ve been doing it since 1986 so I think I’m outta stuff to fill a conversation about besides “Stupid Pilot Tricks” :)

Oh man. A couple years ago I got told that at 5am in the van by a rather chirpie FA. “Oh you don’t sound like a morning person.”

All I did was be quiet and not partake in their conversation. People. It’s pitch black outside. The sun’s not up and won’t be up for a bit. This early I don’t even know my own name, let alone what city we’re in. Lets get to the airport, the first coffee kick in, and we’ll talk then.
