Coudn't complete IOE

That was a big change from the ol' 145. 250 was a perfectly fine speed for that ride.

It takes ~17 seconds to extend Flaps 1. IMO once you get Flaps 1 out, all your energy management problems are over.

Becomes just like the 145 again.

This is any Embraer product lol. The Phenom is the same thing...."flaps 1"....take a sip of coffee, do a puzzle, then check for indication.

ALT *, or "altitude capture".

Or some guys will roll in a large descent for a 1000 foot change, the plane will pitch down and go into ALT * and then either tweak the VS or change modes and it'll break the capture, then start bitching about the bus.

Youse guys! Dammit! :)

"Well back at NATCO, we are the ones who brought Airbus flying to Delta..."

In the E170/175, if you use FPA mode, what does your lateral mode go to? Heading, track.....?
It depends. You can have LNAV-FPA, HDG-FPA, or even LOC-FPA. There's a time and place for all autoflight modes on that thing (that's why they're there).

If memory serves, ROLL-FPA is the "reversion" when the active roll mode kicks out.

That is the one major thing I try to impress on FOs that are new to the type. There is more than one way of making the jet do what you want it to do.

I really don't care what vertical mode you personally use, just as long as we make crossing restrictions, are stable on approach, etc...
There are, in my judgment, "righter" ways to do it - but indeed.

VS was a very rare thing, I cringed when someone reached over and Canadaired it up for the most part.

"Okay, why do you have the thrust at 60% N1, the boards up, flaps 1, gear down and you're in vertical speed?"

It is, I agree...but a substantial part of our skills as a pilot is being competent with all of the different levels of aviation (to include hand flying, obviously). Unless you make it a point to use the Autoflight/Flight Guidance panel to try and figure out which vertical mode to use, when to use it, and how much of it, you'll never get much better at it.
If you are finger-frakking the GP/MCP/FGCP/whatever your employer chooses to call it, perhaps it's time for a lower level of automation.

I guess we'll overlook the fact that Delta operated Airbuses well before the merger. Although, to be fair they were A310s.

Dude, we get it. You have double breasted jacket envy. It's OK. Not everyone can be Tier 1tm. Keep plugging away though champ. Maybe one day your dream will come true!:smoke:

I liked Northwest myself. Delta took over and made the red tails disappear. Still, nothing was worse than shutting down NATCO.

There's no envy, I have apps at all 3 Delta, United, and AA. But I'm also reaching the point of perhaps/maybe not worth leaving because I'm 6th year pay (half way up the payscale) with a TPA that makes a JCBA in 90-120 days (or forced to arbitration where it will be settled by the arbitrator after hearing both sides). Per the TPA, we will have both a JCBA and a SLI later this year.

There are certainly worse places to be in, I count my blessings being where I am.
