Yeah definitely can see that. I can see where there would be a lot of narcissistic, sociopathic personalities, hiding under the so called guise of a Type-A personality.

Like anyone who wants to brag for hours in the cockpit, about how much money/ possessions he has. Is definitely nursing some sort egomania complex, as a defense mechanism in order, to mask their gaping chasm of feelings of inferiority, and low self esteem.

Two words. Cage Marshall.

Worked for me. Not cheap, but well worth it.
Of the four ground instructors I've had in training, they all went through Cage and all got accepted into the CPP
Sounds like that's the way to go

Not sure if it's related, but I got the standard postcard "we're hiring" mailer from C5 that they pull airmen records and blast out. I'm in Chicago, so not sure if that's targeted.
interesting, that must be a new recruiting drive.
I heard a whisper of IAH from one or two guys during indoc but no one seems to take that seriously

Everyone got one, even former employees, and corporate lifers.

The funny part is the corporate guys that didnt understand anything on the front.

"Why wouldnt you get a hotel from the company?"

I was just checking my mailbox between indoc and sims, I got one in the mail last week too...

Can you study for it, though?

Of course you can, I don't use the word "study" I say "prepare". Even though Hogan sells a cog test, I think everyone in this thread is referring to the personality test. And if you couldn't pass the MMPI I would be very disappointed. You work with mentally ill patients, don't you?
There hasn't been been a test devised yet that you can't prepare for if you know what is being tested and how.

Mental testing, assessment and evaluations aren't taught at the bachelor level, unfortunately. Only at the Masters level, and greater. But yes, there are test.
I would think though that airline consulting firms, from their experience, could give you tips and the such from their experience to help you, better prepare.

Ahh yes, the people giving out gouge on how to "beat" the Minnesota Multiphase Personality Inventory.

Aye yi yi.

You're not.

People love to "self select".

It truly amazes me how pilots spend hundreds of dollars on interview consulting firms, hundreds or thousands of dollars chasing job fairs around the country, hours and hours of networking, buy time in full motion sims and then on something that according to one poster in this thread this test wipes out 50% of the applicants, people throw up their hands and say there is nothing I can do. It's bizarre.
Industrial Psychologists are neither Rocket scientists or oracles or witch doctors selling black magic. They have sold a lot of Fortune 500 companies a product and a lot of HR departments have bought it. Your job as an applicant is to jump over one more hurdle that HR has put in your way, nothing more nothing less.
Here are some of the dumbest statements I have heard about these tests.
"There are no right or wrong answers."
Tell that to the people who got the tbnt letter.
"Just be honest"
Come on, these questions are not "have you ever had a speeding ticket?
Let me give you an one example of a question I had on aMMPI that has since been removed.
T/F I like tall women.
I answered T. It's the right answer. If you were to average the height of the women they would barely exceed 5ft tall. Is that dishonest? Of course not.
Look, it's not about "beating" the test. It's about passing it. And the people selling these tests to united and delta and IBM will tell you all day long that there is some sort of "secret sauce" that will detect whether a candidate is is being consistent or "gaming" the test. They have to, they are charging a lot of money for these tests. If you didn't pass the first time and you have and you have an opportunity to take it again, all I can say is that you had better figure out the right answers.

How different and which deal is better: That of CommutAir Interview & psychological testing "Flow through hybrid" ideal with UAL? Or the deal with XJT's E145 side's.

Don't honestly know how XJT's deal is structured, pretty sure they also do the Hogan and interview with United staff. Not sure if they have the same 3k TT/3yr or 1k PIC 1yr thing as we do
