Challenger Truckee

Missed, depending on which approach, is a climb to 1200 or 1400 feet (650’ field el.), then a climbing left turn.

Example 1 for the court:
Chicago approach will not allow you to fly a visual approach to RW34 at PWK until you cancel IFR. Someone way smarter than me can explain the why in detail.
Well, technically, afaik, a visual approach is executed on an IFR flight plan. I think ORD approach was messing with you. As I stated earlier, a visual approach not under IFR is just an approach.

At PWK, if they need you to circle, they'll ask you to call the airport in sight and then cancel. Then, and only then may you proceed on the downwind. This is an ORD interference deal. ATC doesn't want responsibility for you as you (maybe) incur upon ORD airspace.

Pretty sure it can go either way, depending on what KORD’s doing. Sometimes get the circle, sometimes have to cancel to use 34.
Yeah. But I've never gone in there that they didn't demand a cancellation before executing the circle to 34.

Ooh, crap. They just now figured out there were three more people on it? No expert but I thought that was on the flight plan. Rip.

That's if the flight plan was properly filed...

I wonder if this aircraft was managed by an operator?

approach doesn’t use MSA that’s an enroute thing only.
Fair enough.

Still, pays to know precisely where you are relative to terrain. I've had controllers try to MVA me into terrain before. Thankfully, my overly observant and obstreperous nature prevented such a catastrophe. Always likes to keep my feathers numbered. ;)

Wow! Thanks, FAA! Your oversight is perspicacious and precisely aimed. Channeling Damon in The Departed now, "why don't you go ramp check a kitten in a tree."
