CFIs Needed

Well, the minimum requirement has been droped to CFI and CFII, MEI prefered. No Total time or dual given requirement. They'll interview anyone who shows interrest, and hire anyone who dosn't completely blow the interview.

Are you interrested Lloyd? I'm sure we can find a place for you, but there are an awefull lot of people who say "upwind" around here we wouldn't want you to blow a gasket. :D

Just kidding man, and seriously if you are interrested let us know.

We are desperate for mechanics too. If anyone knows a mechanic looking for a job PM me. A&P preferred, but anyone with experience will be given consideration.

Right now its C-152s for Pvt, Alarus for Inst. and Seminole for Comm. I hear they are getting rid of the Alaruses, and I'm not sure what the plan is for an instrument trainer, but they are in the process of retrofitting the 152s with Garmin 430s. If you are lucky enough to get Korean studnets, we are doing private and instrument in 172s and Commercial in the Seminole.

Change of subject,

I've still yet to see any beer from anyone.

Hey Flyguy... I PM'd you about the position... thanks, Rich P.

Oh, and let me know the address to mail the beer to...:)

I am really interested in this job. I have one question though: Does the flight school have a good syllabus for the instructors to work off, or does the instructor have to make up their own lessons? I read in an earlier reply that this is a Part 61 program, I just wanted to make sure.

Also, do they need a cover letter as well as a resume, or can I get by with just a resume? (I hate writing cover letters).

Just some advice from someone who has hired many flight instructors in the past: do a cover letter and spend a lot of time making it a good one. Any job worth applying for is one worth this effort. Explain why the company should hire you - why you are unique. And make sure the spelling and grammar in the letter (plus the resume) are perfect.

We use a very good syllabus that must be followed. You won't make up any lessons. It is approved under part 141 but it meets part 61 minimums and we are conducting the training under part 61. Right now we need bodies to fill right seats, so I highly doubt that failure to submit a cover letter will be a good enough reason to not hire you, but it certainly won't hurt, and may make you stand out a bit.

I currently live in So Cal with my family. I'm looking for a new CFI position because I'm not making enough where I'm at. We're willing to relocate for the right job. I just have a couple of questions...

Do they offer any kind of medical benifits?

Is the employee housing open to families?

Negative.

A couple of instructors have dogs... does that count? Seriously though, I don't know the answer but I would say living on campus wouldn't be really good for a family. There's a lack of privacy that's important to a lot of people (rooms are close together and you have to share a bathroom with the person in the adjacent room). However, apartments in Merced are somewhat affordable.

Do you have an address, or name or someone I can make the cover letter out to?

ASA American School Of Aviation is hiring also. We are next door. I got an interview for both and the whole 6 hour written test didnt sound worth it at Sierra so I took the ASA job. They have free housing too. I'm in a house with 4 others, I have my own room and bathroom.
The fleet is 20 planes and we will be getting 10 more.

What kind of planes do they have? On their webpage, they say they have Symphonies and Katanas, but they don't mention their multi-engine trainer. This place has the DA-42 as their twin trainer, which I am really excited about. For me, the kind of airplane I'll be flying is probably more important than enything else (even pay:insane:)

Also, could you give a little more info on how the place is ran, what kind of students you get, etc.? Also, what are the minimums for hiring? Any dual given mins, do you need your MEI, etc.?

There are two Beech Ducheses for multi training. I got hired with just my CFI and 10 hours of instruction given. The students are Indian, Japanese and Malaysian. I am flying about 6-8 hours a day 6 days a week.
They still want to get 10 more planes which will probably be more C-152s and Symphonies.

You cut your potential pay in half because you didn't want to a test??? I hope you don't aspire to become an airline pilot. You'll be in for quite a surprise.

I sent in a resume today to the address you PM'd me. I even made out a nice cover letter :) I really hope they get back to me soon...
