CBD Usage

That’s fine. I can read a label. But there is little oversight, and independent lab tests show that the labels are more fiction than not.

I'm not going to be disrespectful, but I'm going to continue to pushback on all the negative generalities of CBD. I understand the present day 'red tape' associated with anything that has the naming convention "cannabis" attached to it. It is borne out of ignorance, false representation and failure to look past the last ten/20 years but go back to say 1937 when prohibition ended and Harry Anslinger didn't have anything to do. Oversight? Independent lab tests? What does that mean exactly? Again, this aint moonshine. FDA? Excuse me? CBD is not confined to the USA. It's global. Reflect on that. Countries have been researching cannabis long before Nixon declared his piss ant war on drugs. Sorry. . .just a perspective. I say that from a personal perspective having rhetoric mentioned above to dissuade use of CBD.

So, to summarize what you said and to perhaps help to better answer the query mentioned above.

MFT1air’s link is very informative. If you can find a distillate based CBD product there is no way to fail a drug test.

I recommend picking up what he’s putting down.

@BEEF SUPREME . . .which is perform your due diligence research. I don't promote any CBD products, because I'm really not familiar with any of them. I do know however there's far too many negative wive's tales and adverse media hype that came as a result of propaganda BS back in the day. Let's be honest here. . .there is and has been more testing on CBD than there was for viagra. Just saying. Argue that deflection.

Look, I’m not saying you’re wrong. I am saying I’ve invested a lot in this career for me to believe some yahoo that bought something off the web and marked it up some is not going to be worth the risk.

You’re free to disagree. I am just trying to answer the original question. I’m not a lawyer or doctor, but Gary Crump who is AOPA’s senior director of medical certification and ALPA both say don’t do it. I’ll trust them over some guy on the internet.

At this point, I’ve agreed that your initial point that THC levels are what trigger a positive hit, and it’s extremely unlikely for CBD oil to cause that amount of THC to be in your bloodstream. However, to say CBD oil has no THC in it is disingenuous, at best. I’m not going to risk my career. I don’t know what else there is to say.

Viagra is also banned for pilots. Just sayin’

Haven't said that. I'll never say that. The word "no" is perceived/understood to be an absolute. . .as in zero. Not the case. I have, however, had to engage with a lawyer AND doctor to gain both a legal and health perspective. as it relates to CBD on the federal level <on par with the FAA/AUSA>.

It goes back to the original question of, as I'm sure we'll both agree. what is the specific purpose for use of CBD? Is the THC level less than .3%?

So, the workaround is Cialis. . .not the regular smaller daily dosage but the "on demand" larger dosage. Great analogy.:biggrin:

I’m pretty sure all the erectile dysfunction drugs are banned for pilots. Or at East you can’t fly for three days? I’m going back in my memory on this one. Something about sudden blindness and other vision problems. There’s a joke in there somewhere...

Your last question gets right back to what I posted earlier. You don’t know if it’s less than .3% because no one is verifying the labeling on these things.

There is. . . Except for those with prostate concerns. :bang:

Actually, there are.

So there are labeling requirements. The article I posted earlier showed that they’re not being followed, at least in CO.

Wear your uniform with a minimum amount of required of pieces of flair. Show up reasonably on time. Don't do drugs.

Why do some try and make this career rocket science when it's Greyhound bus science.

Because . . .it's a PASSION? My rocket science pilots say the same thing even when flying food to the ISS. Just saying.

The thing is it isn't drugs. At least it isn't if its CBD derived from hemp. It doesn't make you high and is good for your health. Its kind of like the hemp rope on old sailing ships. It didn't make you high either. I don't know why this is so hard to understand. Or why pilots allow the FAA to ignore health issues and have a draconian take on the devils lettuce.

We are not talking about getting high. CBDs don't do that.

Woody Harrelson said it over 25 years ago and people did not pay attention.

Hemp For Victory!!!!!

Why are rules so difficult for you to understand?

It's just like the rolling rest that I dealt with for almost 10 years flying 135. I thought the rules that allowed for that were stupid and outdated. I also think the rules that govern hemp use by pilots are stupid and outdated.

If you're too dumb to figure out that I'm a proponent of changing dumb rules while following them I could care less about having to pee in a cup. I'm sure I'll be doing like 10 pee tests a week because you guys are such •birds. I don't care I follow the stupid rules.

Yup I'm too dumb. You do seem like make life a lot more difficult that it needs to be, as was your time at XOjet.

I'm in the middle on this, ain't gonna use CBDs or otherwise but also the stigma and conservative stance on it is straight up dumb.

Well, here’s the deal.

If you’re a 121 pilot using CBD, even after the FAA and ALPA have come out warning against it’s use, you’re crazy.

If you’re not flying for a living, knock yourself out, but to use good union resources or billable legal minutes defending against a professional pilot who threw abandon to the wind and got busted, it would be an inefficient use of resources to defend someone who went against advice and threw caution to the wind.
