LAS VEGAS » A $30 cover charge led to a nightclub shooting early today on the Las Vegas Strip that left one patron dead when he tried to subdue the gunman and two employees in critical condition, officials said.

A man opened fire about 5:45 a.m. wounding a manager and a guard at Drai's After Hours, a club at Bally's hotel-casino, police Sgt. John Sheahan said. Another guard might have been injured.

I had long thought the mob had pretty much vanished from Vegas but apparently they are getting strong out here again partly due to the meth business according to a cop friend of mine.

Places the mob either owns or has ties to

The Flamingo (mainly the restaurants)
Spearmint Rhino Strip Club (they sell a lot of meth and cocaine here)
Cheetahs Strip Club (again, more meth and cocaine)
Little Darlings Strip Club (and yet more meth and cocaine)
Republic (the trash pick up service)
Las Vegas Paving
O'Sheas (yup, they had a lot of pull there up until it closed)
Drais (the meth club capital of the Southwest)
The Riviera Casino

We used to see this little old Italian guy decked out in a shark skin suit and over sized prescription sunglasses on the nights we used to hang out there. He would go behind the bar, get a bag of something, I can only assume to be cash or sliced limes and shoot the crap for a few minutes with the staff then bail.
