Around the ramp at the home field, MZJ

It’s on the west side of the field in west row next to a normal-scheme Atlas 747. There’s a number of Atlas jets here, both in the normal scheme and a few others that are completely blank white (am assuming the blank ones are all Atlas?), as well as some Southern Air jets here.

Right now, Delta has the most, the recent arrivals all being widebodies. Air Canada has a number of Max 737s here. JetBlue is taking what room is left, and the myriad of jets that have lived here for years in storage are slowly being parted out and scrapped. Longest tenants so far are a group of Chalks Airlines Grumman Mallards and Albatrosses, as well as a TWA 747-100, a few ANA 747-200s, and some Northwest Cargo 747-200s

Any of the Southern Air 747's? N742SA, N743SA and N744SA? I left a bunch of random stuff, including a sleeping bag, squirreled away in the upper deck (back right... next to the galley) of a few of them before I got furloughed in '03.

WOW! Those Air Canada 767s(except the one's flying for or being transferred to ROUGE) are very short for this earth. I can't imagine they'll ever fly out. :(

Some arrivals.

A number of Jet blue planes here now, just about rivaling the number of Delta planes here.

The storage facility raised storage fees on airliners here because they had to scrape out a whole new row of parking.

The scrap areas of the field have been accelerating the scrap process of planes in order to make room for storage of more planes.

North side scrapping is really clearing out. South side scrapping isn’t going as fast, but us moving along also.

For the JetBlue guys, any idea what the plan is for your fleet planes here maintenance-wise? Is there a airline maintenance contingent here managing their receiving of weekly or so upkeep maintenance? Or are they in “cold” storage?

Very rare sight right now, 747 departing MZJ at 2230L. Rare to see night departures of jets or heavies, extremely rare to see night landings here of same.

Giant 8053. Departing to somewhere.

747-329(M) N3439F, an original Sabena bird, is one of the last of the small fleet of -300 series 747s. Essentially a -400 with having introduced the stretched upper deck, but still retaining a 3-person flight crew, only 81 -300s were built, and only 21 of the (M) cargo carriers.

3439F in the past couple of weeks has had its wings removed, its horizontal stabs clipped, and it’s vertical stab removed, but which may be getting reinstalled. It was then towed out the front gate of the airport here and to a small enclosed yard of a corporate center that has never taken off, pardon the pun. Word on the flightline is, that the aircraft is planned to become an indoor/outdoor restaurant down the road here.

One of the only airlines still flying the 747-300 is Mahan Air, along with their only 747-400. My cousin, a longtime FA with them, has qualed on both.

Hey @MikeD what is the consistency of that silver metallic stuff applied for storage? I’m imagining somewhere between space blanket and aluminum foil.
